Vacuum and solenoids piping order

Post by Stefen »

I dismantled the vacuum hoses and solenoids and vacuum can one day, and didn't pay enough attention to how they were joined up.

Fortunately I took a few photos which may be of some help.

There are two vacuum pipes coming from the inlet manifold, down beside the fuel regulator.

These are eventually fed back to the variable inlet actuator

and the fuel regulator

There are two separate solenoids that control the vacuum for each of these systems.

A green one:

and a blue one:

As luck would have it, I took a photo of one of the systems while it was still hanging together:

So one end goes to a vacuum pipe and the other to either the regulator or the actuator. But which is for which?

This canister has an 'A' and 'B' ports, and as far as I can tell is a one way system. So looking at the picture above I guess that the 'B' side goes toward the solenoid. Is this right?

As far as I remember the blue solenoid is just piped straight from the manifold to either the regulator or actuator, but I'm not sure which one.

Could someone set me right on this one?

It's a UK Rev 3 BTW

Found a website that helps to explain what is happening http://www.turbomr2.com/MR2/Reference/TVIS/TVIS.htm

So in the second picture from the bottom, the pipe from the solenoid, goes to the ACIS actuator. The pipe from the vacuum canister goes to the inlet manifold.
