If the head gasket was ok then the engine must be getting pressurized somewhere else.

.could be that your block is cracked mate, inbetween the pistons.

.unfortunately, if that is the case, it's a dead engine Angus.

Did you put a different head on it or re-use your old one, did you get the old one skimmed before re-fitting or indeed the replacement.

.sometimes the block has to be

"decked" aswell.

.skimmed.

.you didn't give it too many beans before re-torquing the new head bolts did you.

.and did you make sure that all of the valves etc went back in their original places.

.if the head was skimmed by quite a lot you may have to use a thicker head gasket to make up the difference.

.but when all is said and done, you will be a top boy and it's a great feeling when you can do all your own mechanics.
