Friday 21 - Sunday 23 July 2006
The East of England Showground, Peterborough

Hello JAE IMOCers, :D

JAE ain't far away and we've had loads of interest and banter on the JAE thread (currently 28 pages worth! ). So it's difficult for people to find the basic information they require. So I'm posting this thread with some basic information and a list of the attendees. I will keep it locked so it can be used a quick reference (without wading through pages and pages). If you wish to attend and your name is not on the list please post on the JAE thread, stating where you are coming from and whether you are camping or not and I'll periodically check the thread and add your name. (Click here for the JAE thread)

What is JAE?

JAE stands for Japanese Auto Extravaganza. JAE is a meet of all Japanese car enthusiasts and clubs. Originally held at Billing it quickly outgrew this venue and has now relocated to Peterborough. It is now the largest gathering of Japanese cars anywhere in Europe!

Where is JAE held?

JAE is now held at the East of England Showground in Peterborough. For directions the postcode is PE2 6XE. Click here for the AA route planner or here for the RAC route planner

Where is our stand?

In collaboration with MR2Mk1Club and the Roadster Owners Club (ROC) we have secured an excellent plot very near to the main entrance. On entry immediately turn left and there we are! \:D/ (Please note that although this is the final layout released the Almera and Civics will not be in our area)

Image

How much is entry?

Entry for car club members is £20 per car. So if you are coming alone for 30 minutes or coming with two people and staying all weekend, it's still £20! So book Friday off and make a proper weekend of it!

Can I prebook my entry ticket?

No, tickets are pay on the gate only.

Fundraising

Want to donate money to help us make the stand great, and also provide some entertainment?
Click here for information about how to donate. Any donations gratefully received, no matter how small! :D

Activities at JAE

Passenger rides in a Drift car!!
New to JAE this year, passenger rides in a drift car. It may not be the real thing, but it will give you the experience of what it's like to go sideways.

Driftworks
The company Driftworks was formed two years ago by Phil Morrison and James Robinson, both fanatics and amazing drift drivers in the UK. Alongside the company, the guys set up the Driftworks website and forum. Driftworks is everything you wanted to know about Drifting in the UK/Europe. With nearly 4000 registered users of the Driftworks website.

Phil Morrison was one of a small group of people who helped bring drifting to the UK. After watching many Japanese Option DVD's, the group would meet at airfields and practise what they had seen on the footage. Phil's first drift car was the very S14 200sx he currently drives in competition, and it was a steep learning curve getting used to driving it on the edge , when he started drifting four years ago.

Phil is a leading contender at the D1GB series and is currently leading the D1GB championship by eight points, after three of the five rounds. Phil's personal dream is to win the D1GB and go to the US to compete against the rest of the world in the D1 World Match at the end of the season .

Phil hopes Driftworks will become a household name in the worldwide drift scene, continuing to supply the service that Driftworks are well known for, whilst being able to dedicate more of his time to develop and test new Driftworks products.

Drifting is massive and growing momentum through magazine exposure, TV footage and drift specific films.

So can anyone do it?...I asked Phil recently. "That's the wonderful thing about drifting, it's so easily accessible. Get a RWD car, get sideways safely , and if one or our drifting T-shirts is true...you get the girls!"

Driftworks will have a stand at JAE in the drift arena, go along and ask more about drifting, also Driftworks, D1GB and JAE merchandise will be on sale too. For more information about Drifting and Driftworks go to www.driftworks.com

Show and Shine
The show and shine will take place as before by manufacturer but this time NOT on the oval. As before the cars will parade in, park up and be judged. Our very own Stephen Grant will be on hand to interview the drivers and talk to people throughout the day. So make sure you're in line nice and early and don't forget to register 30 minutes beforehand - at least. The top two cars from each section will go through to the Best Cars of JAE final on Sunday. The winning names and cars will be posted up in the Admin Centre and announced on the radio at 5:30pm on Saturday - so make sure you tune in! The winning cars will then be parked up on Sunday for the final judging. So Saturday night could be a busy time for some polishers out there! All the presentations will take place at noon on Sunday, rounding off with the award for the Best Car Club.

JAE FM 87.7
Don't forget to tune into this frequency on arrival at JAE and get the latest information, news, views, interviews and JAE sounds.

Film Show - Friday night
After a long day travelling to setup at JAE, what better way to settle in for the evening than watching short films of Japanese exotica (CARS!). Made by our very own community of Jap car clubs!!!

Show Guide
Each car will receive this free JAE show guide. Detailing the event, which clubs and traders are attending, location maps and other information.

Flame Off
My flames bigger than yours....well come on guys/gals lets see it for real. JAE brings you this competition on who's the Daddy of JAE! Bring your entry forms on the day!

Fireworks
Our ole favourite the fireworks are back...with vengence!! Bigger and better than before, so get ready for this spectatcular light show.

Disco
No excuse to let off steam and your hair down....time to shake your booty on the dance floor to all the hits in the mix.

Live Band
For all you rockers young and old, kick back and enjoy the sounds from 4 fifteen www.4fifteen.co.uk

Please bring with you on your arrival to JAE the Show and Shine entry forms & Flame Off entry forms. This saves our trees!! However, I will have some spare forms in the admin centre

See you all there!

Important information if you're bringing more than one car to JAE

Are you bringing more than one car to JAE?

YES

then you must do the following. Go to the public car park with both cars, leave the car thats not on display and then pay to enter the showground in the display vehicle. As you pay to enter the vehicle you will be given an exhibitors wristband that will allow you to come and go to your other vehicle. Failure to do this will cost you double! The entrance fee is per car, not per person and the wristbands are different for club cars
