I've got the car in gear but a breaker bar on the bolt and pushed.

.
.and no surprise it didn't budge

So I removed the bottom gearbox cover, inserted a screwdriver to hold the flywheel:
And then broke out the big gun- Dad bought this to change the hubs on his skoda, this is a real breaker bar![]()
I didn't even need to lean on it and it came undone- happy days![]()

Next up I removed the top timing cover, and confirmed the engine was at TDC.Time to remove the crank pulley- bring on the custom crank pulley removal kit I put together for my 3SGE:
Firstly run a tap into the two threaded holes in the cam pulley to clean up the threads, then place the smaller socket on the end of the crank shaft and slowly tighten down both bolts at the same time:
The larger socket is for when the pulley is almost off, but soon enough the tool proved it's worth again:
Bottom timing cover off, then I marked up the cambelt and cam sprockets, I also marked the cambelt and crank sprocket, and direction of travel on the belt- the belt was going back on so this would guarantee it all went back in the same position.

Always worked for me but maybe I'm just dangerous.
Good luck with the belt change it's a satisfying job to do.
