[Mk2] [NA] spot the modification

Post by DotNetter »

Hi all

I saw this car on ebay ages ago and liked it so much I kept the picture.

Image

At a glance I would say the car has been lowered, clear lenses have been fitted, all the trim strips have been painted along with the number plate holder, the front lip and the sills and there are some aftermarket alloys on it....but...

Can anyone tell me what alloys they are (and size) and also, how easy is it to remove the black trim strips running around the middle of the car and the lip and paint them?

I ask as I'd like to have mine looking exactly like this (although mine is red) - I think it's very tastefully modded and all without the need of a bodykit :)

Cheers

Its pretty easy to remove side stripes and paint them i did it on a 91 uk model i had a while back. As far as i can remember the door ones are just glued on and the one above the vent is bolted on as is the one on the front wing. I would try and source some already in the colour you want of a later breaking model as i seem to remember the early black strip's didn't sit as flush as the later model ones.
As for the wheels they are similar to some momo ones but don't think they are them.

It's much easier to mask off the surrounding area and spray them on the car. Taking them off is a pain in the ass imo and you run the risk of bending them slightly, then they'll never look any good.

Agree mask it up rather than take them off.

Make sure you mask a lot of the car up, if not all of it, overspray goes everywhere even if your using rattlely cans.

I'm sure you can get wheels in a very similar style, if not identical to them anyway. Just email a wheel place with a pic of those wheels and say have you got anything like these.
