IMOC & Mk1 Club Trackday - 13th September 2008

Post by Scott Barton »

Dear all
Its long overdue thats for sure but here it is....the official IMOC & Mk1 club Trackday thread!
I have been talking to a company called 'Javelin Trackdays' about hosting an MR2 only trackday at a place called RAF Woodbridge nr Ipswich.
Its an airfield with plenty of run off, no kerbs etc.
Am looking at Saturday 13th September.

RAF Woodbridge Airfield
Cone marked circuit
Open pit lane
Mixture of concrete and tarmac
Burger Bar on site for refreshments
Porta Loo toilets
Helmet Hire available
102db static limit

Some info can be found here:

http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/index.html

http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/track ... ridge.html

http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/track ... terms.html

Ok all
Here it is.
Our exclusive link to our trackday.

http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/mr2

After much discussion with the committee it has been felt that to hold it as a *specific* trackday carried too much risk. A rather large deposit would of had to of been made and also we would of been responsible of the balance (to the tune of £4700) if we had not filled the spaces. This could of ended IMOC!
Therefore, after much talking with Javelin, they have agreed to hold the date from the public until the 13th August. This effectively gives us one month to fill the places on the date of 13th September.

Payment can be made direct to Javelin so get your names down on that list!

After the 13th August the date will be made public and anybody, whether an MR2 owner or not, will be able to book themselves onto it.

Any questions, fire away!

Jo & I could possibly be interested depending on whether we're already booked to work for another trackday organiser or not.

We've not done an airfield in yonks and TBH, prefer "real" circuits, but for the banter and to push beyond limits (within safety restrictions/reasons) etc... why not?

I'm in - probably will bring the Mk1 along, but it may be the Roadster :)

Its an airfield day, so it would be ideal for trackday first timers as there should be plenty of run-off so you can 'experiment' with the handling and if you come unstuck you don't run the risk of hitting trees / kerbs. Grip levels are high on Concrete, so make sure you've got plenty of tread on your tyres and your brakes and pads are in good condition.

Just looking around - there's some Video footage from an IMOC day we ran at Elvington in 2005:

(note - clip is 33MB, people on slow connections beware)

Plus some photos from a BookaTrack Trackday in Feb 06 including some bloke with some very well used tyres .... ;-)

Cheers,

Ben.

I'll probably be up for this, just need to check with a mate to see if he wants to split the costs with me.

I did the GT4OC club day there last year in my MK1 (which was also ran by Javelin) and really enjoyed it, good track layout and loads of run off. Wasn't even that hard on the tyres in the end!
