MR2 GT-S Turbo T-Bar Rev2 for sale - Rev3 Mods - **NOW ON EBAY**

Post by Andytoyota »

For sale is my 92 MR2 GT-S Turbo T-Bar. Only has 54000 miles on the clock and 2 previous owners since being imported. It’s in excellent condition and has been converted to look like a Rev3 onwards model with the updated rear lights and a Rev5 spoiler brought from Toyota (receipt for over £300!!). It’s recently be resprayed in Ferrari Rosso Red, a lovely colour that really shines! It also has a private number plate which is included in the sale so as far as anyone else knows it could be a Rev5 model!

Full Spec List:

- 3S-GTE 2.0 Litre Turbo Engine
- 54000 miles
- Tonnes of Service Receipts from Toyota as well as reputable garages such as Fensport
- 5 Months Tax
- 11 Months MOT
- Cambelt replaced at 39,000 miles on 10/2003
- Oil changed every 4000 miles
- Resprayed in Ferrari Rosso Red

- Toyota Rev5 adjustable spoiler
- 17” Fondmetal Alloys with proper sized tyres

- Apexi Induction Kit
- Dump Valve (not connected but still on car if you wish to use it)
- Original Stainless Steel Exhaust System
- Half Leather / Alcantara seats in excellent condition
- JVC motorised CD Player
- Premium Sound System – 8 Speakers
- AutoWatch Alarm / Immobiliser with interior motion sensors
- Momo Millenium steering wheel
- MR2 branded floor mats
- Climate Control + Air Conditioning

- Original T-Bar Shades and Bags to put T-Bars in when taken off (rare!)
- Handbook included as well as a servicing guide on CD
- Loads of MR2 Drivers Club handbooks

Performance

If you’ve never been in one before you’ll be blown away by the acceleration it’s certainly no slouch, 0-60 is 6.1 seconds from the factory but with the induction kit on it it might be a bit under that now! The Apexi Induction kit also makes a fantastic sucking noise on boost. It pulls very well and the turbo gauge goes well up past the ‘+‘ sign as it should do. It doesn’t smoke whatsoever, not from cold, after a hard run or on boost. I’ve always let it cool down for at least 2 minutes before switching off the engine and always run on Shell V-Power which is a must really anyway (could get away with Super Unleaded though or anything 97+ RON).

Handling

In the dry or wet it handles brilliantly, even with that much power behind you it feels planted to road. You do need to be careful in the wet though, it handles very well but obviously you don’t want to be giving it full boost while taking a sharp corner!

Interior

This is one of the premium import models as far as the interior goes, Half Leather, Half Alcantara seats which are in superb condition as you’d expect with the low mileage. No rips or tears or nasty marks, leather feels pretty much brand new and they’re also very comfortable to sit in, even on long journeys. The car comes with Climate Control (which works very well) and Air Conditioning (which doesn’t work too well, needs re-gassing). You don’t exactly need Air Con though as if it’s that hot you’ll have the T-Bars off! Like some do, the T-Bars don’t leak at all so you’ll get no wet leg or seat when it rains, always nice! This car also has the premium sound system which means 8 speakers, 2 tweeters, 2 door speakers, 2 rear speakers and 2 subwoofers. One of the subs is not connected though as the rubber around the speaker has fallen apart, a common fault, but I have replaced the drivers side one with an uprated sub which more than makes up for one not working. If you want to replace the broken sub, you can pick one up for about £10 on ebay or probably cheaper from a scrap yard, 5 minute job to fix in. I should add the steering wheel really fits the look of the car and looks amazing, there is a silver gear surround fitted also and the gear knob looks brand new.

Exterior

As mentioned the car has recently been resprayed in Ferrari Rosso Red by the previous owner, it’s a great colour and really suits the car and as you can imagine the paintwork is immaculate with no scratches, chips or any other nasty marks. Could possibly do with a quick T-Cut as the guy before me looks like he’s taken it through a car wash as some point, very light swirly marks in places in the right light but barely noticeable to be honest, like a say, a bit of T-Cutting will easily sort that out. The brake callipers have also been painted gold. Apart from that it has a Rev3 light conversion fitted and a Rev5 adjustable spoiler, clear front indictors and no nasty looking toblerones at the front (MR2 owners will know what I mean!). It has the raised engine cover as standard and the bright high level brake light. As mentioned it also comes with the private plate WIW 9765.

Mechanical

Obviously I’m not a mechanic but I’ve owned a few MR2’s so know a bit about them mechanically. The engine is fault free to my knowledge, holds boost, doesn’t smoke at all, no nasty knocking or rattling that shouldn’t be there, doesn’t drink or leak oil, all in all I cant fault it. There was a problem with the alternator not charging when I got it, £200 pounds later and the fault was found! A bad cable in the alternator and a perished one in the engine loom replaced and now It works fine. The battery was also replaced at the same time (£65!). Receipts included for this work. I should mention that the alternator has been replaced with a brand new one back in January costing £235 so one thing you certainly don’t need to worry about (Receipt also included!) The oil has also been changed every 4000 miles, this has been done by the previous owner (a bit of a mechanic!) who has kept a log of all the work he has done himself and at what mileage points. There is also loads of receipts for parts, Ball Joints, wheel bearing kits etc. the list goes on! The only fault that I’m aware of is the front brake pads (I think) will need changing soon as they make a groaning noise under heavyish breaking. The rear tyres will also need replacing shortly, front ones are fine though.

With the summer pretty much here now you couldn’t ask for a better car, there really is very little that can get near you on the road, you’ll find yourself overtaking for the fun of it just so you can enjoy the huge amount of power! With the T-Bars off really completes the car! You can tell the previous owner has gone with the baby Ferrari look and it does work really well, you do feel that your driving something pretty special with the speed to match.
I’m looking for around £3500 ono which is what I paid for it just over a month ago, my circumstances have changed drastically unfortunately and the only asset that I can get any money from is now the car so it has to go. It’s always been my ambition to own one and at least now I can say I have even if only for a short time! Maybe in a couple of years time I can afford to get another but for now there are more important things sadly.

If you would like to see more pictures or ask me any questions about the car at all please get in touch with me, [email protected] or phone me on 07854 300205. You can of course come and test drive the car or look at it, BUT NO TIME WASTERS OR TEST PILOTS, SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. If I think you’ve just come to take it for a thrash with no intention of buying it you will be turned away (it’s quite easy to tell who is and isn’t genuine by the way!). Make sure you have some kind of insurance as well if you want a test drive please.

Thanks for looking

£3250

**MORE PICS TO FOLLOW (and better quality, none of these show the colour of the car well, i'll try to borrow my friends digi camera instead of a camera phone!)**
