Hi all
Today my car has started getting a knocking noise or vibrating noise from under the car when I pull away slowly or throttle off in a bit of traffic, sounds like if your exhaust is incorrectly fitted and is vibrating under a car.
Does anyone have any ideas or know of any common problems bushes or support bars under the car?
Also can anyone recomend any good garages in the Romford area that wont rip me off and do not mind working on import cars as im having trouble getting anyone to work on mine
I had a fast road organic clutch fitted 4 months ago able to handle 400BHP and im only running 320BHP does anyone think this may be clutch chatter and can this be overcome.

hi mark
it seems to be quite common now that people are starting threads about a strange noise coming from the rear, if i remember correctly a member traced it down to a bearing in the driveshaft
obviously might not be related but if you look a few threads down i'm sure you will come across it

Sounds like the same rattle that I've got. Mainly happens in very slow stop-start traffic, as I let the clutch up and the engine gets loaded up.
I replaced the bolt in the driveshaft bearing, as suggested in the other thread, but that hasn't fixed it.

yes that is the same noise I get , spoke to one of my friends who also has an mr2 turbo and he said he had the same noise and cured it by checking the engine mount bolts and giving them a little tweak tighter.
So thats what i am going to try next, he also said its normally the mounts nearest the fire wall of the car.

Could be the exhaust heat shields. An obscure thing, but common as they rust, and easy to check
