Shifty's little MK2 project

Post by shifty »

Morning!

I’ve got a little project car on the go at the minute… just thought id let u guys see how she’s comin along…

She started out at Christmas time looking like this-

She’s an imported 1990 n/a GT T-Bar MR2, and had a spec something like this-

Engine
Standard 3S-GE engine
Standard exhaust with custom 4” stainless steel tailpipes

Wheels
16" Super Advan Racing rims
205/45 front and 215/45 rear tyres

Suspension
Lowered 40mm, springs unknown
Rear cross brace

Exterior
Standard front bumper meshed with fog lamps and centre bar removed
Rev 3 front splitter
Side repeaters removed and smoothed
Crystal sidelights
Crystal indicators
Customised side skirts, make unknown
Rev 3 rear lights
Rev 3 spoiler
Rev 3 rear centre panel
Reversing lights and boot lock removed from centre panel
Sprayed BMW titanium silver
Turbo engine cover

ICE
Sony 6 x 9s

I put her into a wee backwater bodyshop near my house in March for a full respray in Mazda winning blue. It ended up taking 4 months through many, many complications, but I was able to add a few little bits and pieces on as the car progressed. Which was nice :) Here’s the transformation-

And yes, I still have the advans… and no, im not sellin them!

The tech spec is a little healthier too-

Engine
Standard 3S-GE engine
Standard exhaust with custom 4” stainless steel tailpipes

Wheels
18” x 8” Fox RS 10 alloys
215/35 front and 225/35 rear Hancook tyres

Suspension
Lowered 40mm, springs unknown
Colour coded rear cross brace
Front strut brace

Exterior
Standard front bumper meshed with fog lamps and centre bar removed
Bomex UAD-180 front splitter
RMG rear corner splitters
Side repeaters removed and smoothed
Crystal sidelights
Crystal indicators
Modified side skirts, make unknown
Rev 3 rear lights
Rev 3 spoiler
Rev 3 rear centre panel
Reversing lights and boot lock removed from centre panel
Turbo engine cover
Full bare metal respray in Mazda Winning Blue

Interior
Shiny pedals
Richbrook gear knob
Modified Urban X steering wheel

ICE
Nesa DVD / CD / MP3 headunit with 7” widescreen
Sony 6 x 9s
JBL components

I’ll get pics of all the stuff up eventually, some of it isn’t even on the car yet as I only got it back the other day. Have to give a big shoutout to dave aka headcover for the bomex splitter, great part mate, fit was perfect, quality is excellent :)

So yea, let me know what u think! Laters,

Tommy

Damn nice colour there dude!! \:D/

I would love to have the space to do my own respray bits, have a project. especially as my dad is into it too so would be cool. Anyway, enough of the sad stories! Definitely a big improvement, looks tidy and not too in yer face! 8)

Nice job Shifty,

Just so you know, your sideskirts are Autopista (albeit with the middle bar removed), I had them on my old car......
