Try A plan (go and check out the IMOC discount in premium members)

Our SC (ok not a conversion) was insured with them when I was 24.

The Adrian Flux quote doesn't seem to bad to me?! I'd be happy with that... I'm a 25 year old male with 3 points though!

Houghton offered me a decent quote on my Jap import supercharger. Speak to Ken Salmon
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

Greenlight insure me but I doubt they will be much cheaper than Adrian Flux. Its probably your age thats going to bump it up.
What one did you buy in the end ? The red one, "XOI"?

Yip bought the red one XOI, i went with Adrian Flux 3rd party F+T at £450, as they are the only ones who would touch me because of my age  (im 23) and they said i need to be 25 because its a conversion :D

Yeah, the Adrian Flux quote sounds fairly good to me.
I'm also 23 and just got insurance for my NA Mk1 through Houghtons. Was the cheapest quote I got, limited to 3500 miles... £360 (which I was quite pleased about given it's a second car) fully comp.
Definately worth speaking to Ken Salmon; he really knows the Mk1 (well, he was at JAE and IIRC founded the MR2 Mk1 club). He only works Mondays and Thursdays though.
I'm assuming your Adrian Flux insurance allows you more miles than that per year?

He was off today but Houghtons wouldnt look at it as i wasnt 25 due to the SC onversion #-o

Its a 5000 limited mile policy have. Im happy enough with it as the car has the SC conversion, exhaust, filter and lowered suspension so most people wouldnt look at it, once im 25 i will get a quote with the club insurance

Hmmmm... maybe I should re-call Adrian Flux. Houghtons have said that if I up my mileage to 5000 miles, it'll be £500. My car's NA and completely stock (even the exhaust). Mind you, I'm keeping the no-claims on the daily driver as my insurance company for that are being funny about moving it mid-policy...
Does sound like you got a good deal (I'd have gone for the comprehensive myself though...).

Adrian Flux - Yes fully com £575 excess £400 or 3rd party F+T £450 and £200 excess.

Bearing in mind age, and the fact its a conversion (always costly to insure) I too don't think the above is too bad.
I mean I would guess it wouldn't be that much lower if it was a genuine SC as they are all imports?? :-k

Yip all other companies were saying 25 or over for an import.

The reason i dindt go for fully comp is ive been in the position before where the have offered be a silly low amount for the car when damaged and considering i would have to pay a £400 wouldnt leave much.

Obviously next year i will be looking for fully comp and guarenteed value etc but today i just wanted to get someone who would cover the conversion so i could get it on the road \:D/

You should always check out:

www.confused.com

when buying insurance. It may surprise you. I've just talked my mate's 18yr old (just turned) son into getting a Mk1b. He was quoted £630 fully comp, 1 yrs no claims, unlimited mileage, parked on the street, no convictions. Before that he had Ford Fiesta 1.1, paying £1600 Third Party only with Adrian Flux as they were the only ones to touch him for some strange reason.

I'm 34 and £260 5000 mile limit with Aon insurance for the S/C 2nd car policy.

They have insured it under a classic car policy

just for the sake of the thread and other sc owners seeking insurance:-

Performance direct.

I'm 37, with named driver 39, 15years NCD, Fully comp protected, modifications declared, 3 points, 1 accident (no fault/no claim)..£362 inc legal and tax 6000 miles limit. Regular car policy. Would have been £325 if named driver at same address. Policy document arrived within 36hours.

Glad you got the SC Donna & your happy with it. As i said in your original thread, i thought you may have trouble getting insurance for it though, whatever insurance you end up with, make sure your FULLY covered, as Crazylegs is finding out to his cost at the moment, cheapest is not always the best, good luck, Jinxy
