I have checked the emissions database and the only similar vehicle is a
3S-GE 2.0L not a 3S-GTE.![]()
Therefore there is not an exact match in the
database so your vehicle should go through the the non-CAT test using the
default limits.

The test station has to check your vehicle details against the emission
limits included in the database.![]()
If there is no exact match for your
vehicle in the emissions database then the vehicle should go through a
non-CAT test using the default limits for a 1994 vehicle.![]()
The defualt
limits are CO<=3.5% and HC<=1200ppm
If you would like me to check if there is an exact match I would need to
have the model code, engine code and the last 7 digits of the VIN number.

MOT Test for
Japanese Import
Dear sir/ madam,
I had my vehicle(a Japanese Import 1994 MR2 GT Turbo) MOT'd on saturday,
and was failed on emissions.![]()
Previously, the car has been put through a
non-CAT test, due to the fact that there is NO UK equivalent to this
vehicle at this age.![]()
During the test on saturday, they insisted on putting
the car through a CAT-test, which the vehicle only just failed on CO
levels.
I believe the car was incorrectly tested- I have a section of the previous
'MOT Inspection Manual' which, in section 6.4, has a flowchart that clearly
states that my car should be put through a non-CAT test.![]()
Surely there
cannot have been a retrospective change since then that means the car now
requires a CAT test??This, in effect, would be like saying a 1930's car
now requires fog lights and seatbelts!
Could you please clarify the situation for my car.
