Really annoying interor trim fault...

Post by ryan »

Is it just my car? Every day I have to push the seatbelt/shoulder speaker trim panel back in to place as it pops out when the door is closed shut  . All the grommets are in place, but some are slightly different in shape i've noticed... :?

can't say I've experienced that....... maybe someone has replaced the original grommets with others of the wrong shape/size?

I've just got used to it now! everytime I put the seatbelt on I give it a shove with my elbow! have tried brand new fixers inside & still didn't work.

Yep mine too, this has been the 6th MR2 to date with the same problem. I think previously when aftermarket stereos or alarms are fitted the lower panel stud has been snapped by accident.

In my opinion Toyota have made this panel a lttle hard to remove with out snapping the stud at the bottom, it seems easy at first by pulling the top part of the panel which generally pops out with very little effort, but then when you try a little pressure to the stud at the bottom it tends to 'SNAP'. If your not aware of how this panel is fixed then this will usually happen.

Hence its probably always best to take the car to someone who is already familiar with the MR2. :D

Frank, I was up visiting the girlfriend, and was speaking to Mick (Topgun), who was interested in the car, so i'd said i'd go and look at it for him. It was a right turkry though, it had rev 1 lights with the fog lamp squashed inro the sentre light panel, just tacked on sort of thing  ..and as for the rev 2 spec black surround around the bottom of the car, i've nooo idea :?

I do like my GReddys too. If you throw gravel in your eyes and squint a bitthey may look a bit F355  :P

I'm teying to gert hold of the GReddy rears now :D

Are you going to the dyno day at Nobles in March?
