Restoration Show Thanks & Pics

Post by mr2mk1chick »

THANKYOU to eveyone who came and helped at the show =D> =D> =D>

In no particular order:
LimeyMK1
Unleash
crazylegs
tonyjinzyfroud
icsunonova
jrleech
johnR
SystemG

The day was a huge success!

We did all the work on the cars, with no real hic-cups:
Chris (unleash) did rear bushes and rear ball joints
Garrick (systemG) did rear discs, pads, and braided brake hoses

The stand was set up quickly with the help of everyone, and looked pretty cool once the cars were in place too.
There was a steady stream of visitors to the stand from fellow mk1'ers to some finding out about the car for the first time.
We made a great team, helping work on the cars and chatting to the public, and catching up on MK1 gossip.

 To top off a great day, the MK1 Club Stand won 2nd prize for the club displays, which was a great surpirise but also a great credit to all of those who helped put on a real good show. Thank you again =D> =D> =D>

I will post a few photos, and i'm sure that the others have more to follow.

I would also personally like to thank everyone involved =D>

The trophy alone is well worth every effort put in by everyone

I would especially like to thank Chris (LimeyMK1) and John (JohnR) for all the assistance with the brakes. I had previously done front discs and pads on numerous cars so many times, But never rears before. Today I really learned lot lot more and saw how slack I have been on brake changes in the past.

Jinxy, I think the curse is finally over (I hope) [-o< Nothing went wrong today despite your presence

It was also good meeting so many people in person who frequent the forums - good putting faces to names etc... 8)

Bring on the next one 8) Lets go for 1st prize eh? \:D/

  Yes, spent most of the day on my back!

Wasn't trusted to do anything technical, just "get those rusty bolts out Tom!" :clown:

Anyway, job was a good 'un.

Really enjoyed the day and well done Jo and Garrick for all your hard work. =D>

Photos to follow (once I've washed all the WD40 out of my hair).....

Anna, *think* there's another one in the autumn (Jo will confirm). I'm booking my car in  Jobs that need doing on the day: Front and rear suspension bushes (all of them are knacked  ), front and rear anti-roll bar bushes, T-bar seals replacing. If time permits, perhaps we can fit my turbo manifold and get it twincharged! :clown: and then sort out the NOS.....

Stoneleigh Restoration Show

Post by Stumr2 »

Congratulations =D> to Jo and Garrick for a marvellous club stand - I could have made it in the afternoon but a broken down aeroplane at Gatwick caused a long delay in getting back from France on Saturday evening/Sunday morning.
And thanks to all of you present on the stand for a superb team effort.

Just finishing washing the brake fluid off my hands!

Must say thanks to Jo and Garrick, great job! I really enjoyed today, first time for me at Stoneleigh, what a great venue! I didn't know what to expect, but the team spirit on the stand was just brilliant!
One of the things that has stuck in my mind was the other car clubs who were genuinely happy for us when we won the prize, I went along with Jo to the presentation and people were wanting to shake our hands and congratulate us, good to see.
All of the days tasks where completed successfully (with no mishaps) and I hope a little group knowledge was passed on.

Made me chuckle, though - every group shot has at least one of you looking like a crazy  Motley crew ;) apart from Jo.. <Joey> Hey, how you doin? </Joey>

Aaaanyway.. congrats on picking up an award, and some nice shiny Mk1's there :) (Top tip for getting bushes out, too, that threaded rod & socket - I'll be making use of that, for sure!)

Jo & Garrick... what a superb effort you put in bringing it all together & we got a 2nd place to boot !!! =D> =D> . It was great to put faces to names at long last & as mentioned before, team spirit on the stand was second to none,................ not sure why everyone started to scatter in different directions when i picked up the blow torch though  . there was so much going on all day that i didnt get much chance to spend time with any particular car. Well done everyone, what a great team, put me down for the next one please Jo..... if you take all my rabbiting   . Will post some piccy's tomorrow, too knackered now... up since 5am... just got in 10 pm   , cheers, Jinx ZZZZZzzzzzzz !

Just been having another look at the photos. Never seen sugar used on head work before. Whats that for grinding the valves in or something :D

this is where you have been going wrong. the sugar is a vital tool for any project, along with the tea and digestives !
Steve any chance of getting me a couple of those rose joints ? i want to have a play at sorting out some drop links.
