bu88er!!! my car wont start! HELP!!!!!!!!!! **UPDATE**

Post by jimGTS »

all i get is lots of clicking from the engine bay...........
have a funny feeling the rain could have made something wet maybe?
ive also seen that my battery is a little low, am charging it now.........

does this sound like a low battery situation, or could something else possible be up?????????

i am trying to install a new key fob for my lea826, without success as my old fob broke (ie the screen cracked).......problem is because of this i cant tell what sort of mode my car is in??? ie whether its actually the alarm that is stopping the engine from turning over????

Hi,

I have had a similar problem on another car a few years ago. Turned out my battery was not holding charge and was losing it whilst my car stood. A replacement battery solved the issue. I went to an auto electric specialist and they also checked the alternator as well to verify that it was providing sufficient output to maintain the battery condition and run the systems on the car.

If you have an alarm fitted then this will slowly drain a battery whilst the car is stood. If the battery is in poor condition, i.e. it does not retain charge well, then this slow drain may cause the battery capabilities to drop to a level where it can not provide sufficent charge to turn the engine over and provide power to run the sparks.

Unlikely - but take it to an auto electrician and get them to check everything over.

Don't apologise, he's been waiting 3 years for that reply - he might finally get the car started now.
