Anybody tried the Mk2 Turbo Intercooler upgrade from....

Post by Nelo »

..underground Race UK?

Got a reasonable price via email and also the pictures below.

The IC upgrade they offer is a new proven bar and plate design IC upgrade, very similar to the Greddy design IC, they offer much improved cooling and performance and excellent engine bay looks as well.

The kit comes complete with silicone hoses and clips, and polished light weight aluminium hard pipes etc , everything required to simply fit and use.

Anybody any thoughts/views?

Thanks

I'd almost be willing to bet money those are Greddy pipes/hoses. The IC core is not Greddy, but the hoses/pipes look IDENTICAL. Too identical to be a copy. See the shiny wrapping on some of the couplers? Just like my Greddy stuff came.

SS Autochrome and a few other places in the US have advertised an intercooler that looks very similar, but they don't actually have any in stock.

Price?

If you face it those normal Air-Air coolers are just overpriced from Greddy, HKS and so on.

Roughly £300 afaik. So keenly priced.

Thanks for the info Aaron and good to see you over this side :) Ok, at least now I know that it's not just a photo of a Greddy kit sent to me, I think! Really interested to see if anybody has used one of these or have dealt with Underground Race UK before I send any money to them? No reason to doubt their reputation but I like to hear about companies before I buy from them online :)

Cheers

Do they have an website? Couldnt find anything with google.

I would say for this price just give it a try. Buy two temp displays one before and one after the IC. Check first with the stock and then with this one and give us a review :)

Err, well it's not for me. It's for a friend who I am trying to source this for so i'd rather give him a decent piece of working kit rather than stinging him with a "Turbonator" type of thing lol ;)

Try here:

Hey Jimmy,

Thanks for replying here. I hope you don't mind me posting this thread, was just interested to see if anybody had any previous dealings with the company or if anybody had tried one of these out. I think we'll try it out and report back to see if we can quantify an improvement over stock :)

I've sent you another mail.

cheers

Underground Race UK sponsored me for the Cannonball Run europe last year. Jimmy's a sound guy to deal with, and I will definately be dealing with him in the future.

I can't comment on the I/C, but it certainly looks the part. I would go for one. For the price difference between this and the GReddy, whats so different?

I'm very very interested - do they come with any kind of uprated fan kit?
Can you email me any details - [email protected]

Do you have any info on pressure drop, temp changes over standard etc.

i was just wandering because ssautochrome and there was another company selling what looks identical to those on ebay a while back......... Not saying it is the same.

I would also like to see some testing results on there, might be onto a winner if you can keep the price down but the quality and performance similar to the greddy for example.

Ingtercooler prices for the 2 are a major issue, I dont think there is any VFM in the current models available.

matt your avc-r will be in the post first thing tomorrow buddy, It arrived today :D

Also please correct me if i'm wrong but the top intercooler in that pic looks like the ones in production by yourself, but the bottom pic is an original greddy item, as i can tell by the core, also the silicone hoses, even down to the heat wrap on the hot intake pipe.

Also whats yours feed back on this product compaired to the XS power version being sold in america that has already failed in testing down to a poor core being used compaired to the greddy/spearco/ARC. Just interested as they look identical, but might be wrong on this as the bottom pic shown isn't your intercooler, so your actual product might be completely different so theres.
