Removal of CD player

Hi all,
I aint really a regular on this site. Still cant get round to taking pictures of my brief. Anyway, if have this problem; i bought my car a year ago. I has a sony cd player, but recently it has been playing up. Out of interest i had a look to see if i could remove and repair it. As my car is a jap i have what looks like a blanking panel directly below my stereo. I couldnt seem to remove it and had a look from under the passenger footwell. It seems that the whole thing is bolted on. Is there any easy way to get my stereo out?????????????? Any help is much appreciated!

You will have to take the ashtray out, remove the screws from there. Then remove/loosen gear stick surround.

The whole dash bit around the stereo should now come off revealing the stereo!
