Induction kit confusion

Post by LouisePiggin »

i was looking at the Pipercross viper intake kit for the Mk1, my confusion stems from there being two kits available.

The first is for years 84-86 with air box in the boot and the second being for years 86-90 with airbox in the engine bay??

I thought that it was 84-86 that had it in the engine bay and the 86-90 that had it in the boot?

Or conversely am I missing something and just being daft?

Your understanding is correct. Wherever you've seen them listed has it the wrong way around

You can put a K&N straight onto the throttle body. It doesn't mean the air filter wasn't originally in the boot.

I'm thinking it's pipercross who've got it the wrong way around as everyone who has them for sale has them listed the same way.
