Carbon Fibre Rocker Cover

Post by fred130111 »

What is the best way to get a carbon fibre look on a rocker cover?

Pretty sure a wrap would melt
Never seen an actual carbon fibre rocker cover for sale

I am thinking the best way would be to use templates to spray different layers to get the carbon look.

Any suggestions welcomed :thumleft:

I've seen successful hydrodips?

That's a good idea, never looked into prices or places where I can get that done though. I was always under the impressions its pretty expensive.

I will certainly look into it :thumleft:

fake carbon is never, ever cool, and rarely looks anything like carbon fibre.

You could get your existing cam cover "skinned" in carbon fibre mat.. basically a wet layup of CF on top of the metal - looks "real" but is just decorative, the other option would be to commission a real CF cam cover, at great expense

water transfer printing ("dipping" "hydrodipping" etc) is an option, but it still looks nothing like carbon fibre.. just black with silver/grey dashes

Have a chat with Peter- the garage next to his unit do hydro dipping, I specifically asked about doing cam covers this morning and they reckon there's no problems with the heat levels....the finish they get is spot on as well :thumleft:

To hydro dip a spoiler is £120 approx. as a base for an estimate.

Ah right cool, thanks :thumleft: Thinking I may just get the inlet manifold done now seeing as on the N/A's you don't see much of the rocker cover. Not as expensive as I thought though :thumleft:
