UPDATED with measurements - WIDE arch mr2 wheel size discussion help 2 fit flush

Post by pandb2 »

Fronts are 8J wide from inside bead edges with an offset of 35-38mm
Rears are 10J wide from inside bead edges with an offset of 35-38mm also

On the front the wheel is tucked back and needs bringing out and extra 25mm from inside of bead edge (read that's where a wheels true width is measure from side to side inside edge of beads where tires fits to)
On the rear the wheel is tucked back and needs bringing out an extra 30mm from.inside of bead edge again

Remember the wheels are also using 30mm spacers front and rear!!! Measurements above for how much they need bringing out are while fitted to 30mm spacers so need to know what my options are if anyone can help for width of alloys front and rear and also offsets to have fit flush to arch body lines

Thanks very much!!!!!!! :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Also to add that I mention the 30mm spaces but I want to find an alloy that will work without spacers if possible and there's a way to figure it out some how?? :) :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Ah now that's asking erm where could I measure from to the wheel arch for maybe someone else to measure from same place to stock arches to then compare??

Do you have any pics you could post up? Can you see the stock arches behind the wide arches or have they been cut away?

What are the widths and offsets of the wheels you have on now, and what is the distance between the outer arch and lip of the current wheels?

Ah good idea guys
Can't see the original arches as built onto them
The current offsets I'll check and post with the spacers included measured at 30mm so that should give us an answer
Nice one
Will post asap once I've checked

Right had a gander at car and it's got big brakes on it so not sure if that will mess up my measurements
From the wheels mounting surface it's 5 inches to front arches and 6 inches to rear arches to be flush give or take before I've fit standard suspension to then remeasure with wheels removed and stock items in place

But if we work it out with current brakes fitted that will aid me when I remeasure so how would we go about figuring it out please? If it can be figured out this way
Thanks guys :) :)

Do your current wheels have the widths and offsets cast into them or the information on a label? As Gazza_DJ said, if you know what your current wheels sizes/offsets are it'll make it very easy to work out what sizes you need to fit the wide arches.

Your widened arches, did you roll them?
If so did you do it yourself and how hard/easy was it?

Wish I could help but they are added on so not rolled
I read on net that rolling isn't that hard but paint blistering on the tightly bent arch metal can be an issue

Stick a thread up and I'm sure someone has rolled arches that can advise :thumleft:

It would seem the fronts are 8 inch wide from inner bead edges across width of rim
The mounting face would seem to be 2.5 inches from the front of the wheel
Meaning to get half way to middle of alloy from the front and mounting face would be an additional 1.5 inches so I'd estimate that to be 38 but give or take I'd say fronts are 35et
Am I around the right area with the above as the wheels have no markings let alone a make on them
genuine splitrims made in japan though which is annoying as I can't place what they are from google searching

Now onto the rears I guess lol

Post up some photos of the wheels, someone may be able to identify the make and model and then you can search for what sizes/offsets they were sold in.

So if we assume your current wheels are

8" +35
10" +35

With 30mm spacers on, the relative offset currently is

8" +5
10+ +5

If you then want them to sit 25mm further out on the front and 30mm on the rear, with no spacers fitted you would need

8" -20
10" -25

Those are the sizes you'd need based on the information you've given, I would definitely double check your measurements of your current wheels to make sure the widths and offsets are accurate.

That seems extremely wide, can we see some pics of the car as it is at the moment?

I love how simple for you it is to make it really easy to understand what I need my head got all jumbled trying to do it

Love how simple you made it for me thank you :)

Yeah how would I go about making them show up on here? I will get some asap and it is wide indeed lol

Thanks again I will defiantly double check the measurements or get a garage to do it 100% rather than my attempt which obviously had the 'roughly' word added as I admit I know I'm not bang on the money offset wise

Again thanks!
