As per title really.
How can I remove this silly thing?
Would rather be showing off my stainless exhaust.

Exhaust grill? Needs to be bent up, or much better, cut off.

Cut off and sealed with hammerite.

There are two types of MR2 owners.
Grinders and benders.
You choose your own path.

Grindr or bender? neither for me
Just remember its part of the chassis.... So once gone it can never be put back.

Could be welded back on, but why would you want to?
Grind/cut it off, don't be a bender

Grind it off.. then paint hammerite on the exposed metal. nice and tidy.
bending just seems like a lazy way.

I think people are quite funny about it when it comes to re-sale. Just the other day i was at a MR2 specialist and someone brought a '2 in asking for one to be put back on (welded if possible).
Has anyone got a before / after pic?
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Removing slotted black cover thingy from under the rear bumper?
Very weird i don't think i've got a before and after. It doesn't really serve any function.
I will never sell my car so i've never really thought about resale value.

quite like that rear shot even if i say so myself.

Lol @ grinder and bender.
Surely leaving it in place is the 'gay' way!
Cut off flush, seam sealered and top coated.
(That's moisture on my boot floor, not rust, btw!)
Draven, that looks great.

From my build thread:
RedMR² wrote:Another minor update I forgot to mention was the removal of the exhaust grill.
The grill was bent and twisted, and with the added bonus of the bumper removed, the grill could be cut off as high as possible, so that when the bumper goes back on, you'll not be able to tell it was ever there.

oooooooo now that does look better!
I never realised actually now cruddy that grill is until now.
I think though just to be safe i might be a bender, if i was to do it.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Removing slotted black cover thingy from under the rear bumper?
bending is easier, but once its bent, itll never go back to its original shape.
so you may as well cut it off.
its not exactly a feature that anyone likes or cares about.
