[Mk2] [Turbo] Warped Exh Manifold

Post by Judderman »

Hi, recently removed my exhaust manifold on my Rev 1 tubby. Unsurprisingly its warped put a straight edge across each of the two halves, and its fine, but across the whole manifold its about 2mm out.

Is it possible / sensible to have it machined flat? anyone have anywhere that can be trusted to do it if so in the Midlands or Sheffield area?

Cheers

I don't know anywhere you could get it machined but I've got one you can buy for £40 if you're happy to pick up. I can look at postage if required it's quite heavy though.
At a guess i'd say the cost of machining would be more than buying a second hand one.

Thanks Draven, i'll keep that in mind. I'll look into postage. I assume yours is straight.

Oddly enough I relocated from your area to Shropshire just under a year ago !!

Haha.

Yes i'm pretty sure it is straight. I'm doing some work in my garage at the weekend so i'll hold a straight edge up to it and let you know. :thumleft:

It should be fairly easy to get that manifold face decked flat - I would suggest, if you are stuck, contacting Peter Gidden at sbits as he has access to a number of machine shops or as it might be closer to you try Nathan at Century Motorsport - again he has access to machine shops. Hope this helps a bit.
