Suspension & Wheels - Fitment/offset question

Hi

Long story but I need to sort my Dads suspension as his shocks on his MR2 are failing.

My Dad was going to fit Meister R's but has decided not to.

I was going to put on my Desmonds Wise wheels on his 2.

But will 17" x 8" et35 and 17" x 9" et38 fit on a Mk2 with stock suspension?

Im thinking the rear arches would need to be rolled, but am concerned about whether the wheels would clear the struts

From reading the for sale ad your fronts were 17x7,5 et36 front

So I'm guessing an 8j et 35 on the fronts will be flush and no rubbing?!

correct, there's more than 1/4" between the inside of the rim and the strut though, quite a bit more.

in fact, you're more likely to encounter rim-to-spring issues with adjustable coilovers, since the OD of the spring is bigger (and therefore closer) than the OD of a fixed spring platform damper, where the spring platform and spring sits above the tyre - the only issue you'd run into there is if running (incorrect) tall tyres like a 225/45 as opposed to a 215/40 you may rub the tread of the tyre on the bottom of the spring cup

thats with a 215/40 and a set of old KYB gymkhana dampers (due to be replaced...)
