it goes, 187mph on the salt.. not really impressive tbh, that could easily be achieved with a 4cyl motor and a decent gearbox.

i thought he was racing (and beating) the bike, until he actually did race it, kept up well but it's like comparing apples to oranges, bikes really are just i a different league.

also, Honda motor? what's that about? wonder what the quickest 3sgte (or 5sgte) powered car is :-k

the K20a Honda motor is vastly superior to any 3s/5sgte though, looks like a really good swap, although they've cut out a lot of metal in the shell, too much for my liking.

Depends if we are talking 0-60, 1/4 mile or just plain outright top end speed.

Our 6 speed 2gr swaps have a "theoretical" 220mph top speed, which i don't think would ever be possible due to aero/tyres etc, but on paper that is what the maths suggests for a given RPM/6th ratio.

Paul .. if you can find the tyres that would take it .. i'd love to see the vid you going down a runway .. 220mph is bonkers 8)

I'm not daft or brave enough!

We have three 2gr 6 speeds out there, none of the owners are silly enough to try the top speed, i think Gav has had his to 160mph with relative ease and lots more to go.

I know from personal experience Mr2s do not like going above 150mph, but yep tyres and aerodynamics are the issues.

IT MIGHT BE A MIDSHIP like a F1 car but theres no aero or weight to hold down the front end when going 150mph... floaty if i had wings im sure it would fly...lol

I only have hit 145mph so far too scare to go more... holding 120mph is ok... but yes you got to hold it steady

im sure it will be fine next time i will try 170mph... if i dont reply you guy will know happen to me then.

It's physically impossible for a E153 to reach 170mph without increasing the max RPM of the engine or altering gearing/final drive.

From memory the absolute top speed possible is about 155mph, but Mr2 speedos read around 5% over by design, which would indicate 165mph ish on the clock... but you would actually be doing 155mph at nearly 7000rpm.

The 6 speed conversion has a very long 6th gear 0.673:1 and a final drive of 3.238 which allows much more than the E153 155mph terminal speed.

But yeah we're all in agreement it would be a stupid thing to attempt.

I have a copy of a program which will calculate top speed very accurately. We used it for modding Simon's 1/4 mile car.

You'll need to know engine power curve, torque curve, drivetrain losses, wheel diameter, rolling friction, weight, frontal area, drag coefficient etc. before getting figure close to accurate.
