Stolen Mica Blue Mk1b T-bar

Post by Mk1_Luke »

Hi,

Last night (10/11/14) my car was stolen from the road I park it on in Oxford. The car is a Mica Blue Mk1b with the number plate FXX7FLE. The body work isn't in the best condition ever, but I've put quite a lot of work into it in the last few months, so I'd really like to see it back.

It has the following parts that make it stand out:
- TRD Springs, Dampers and Top mounts (dampers are 4 point adjustable from the top and very rare)
- Quaife quick rack. Can't see this easily, but the the rack and track rods have all been refurbished and painted black.
- Fully polybushed suspension
- Whiteline adjustable rear ARB
- Refurbished rear subframe mounts (again painted black)
- 1 Off Custom rear track rods (Mk1b and Mk2 Rev 1 hybrid)
- New ball joints and drop-links all round
- Braided brake lines
- Pool ball gear knob

If anyone happens to see the car for sale anywhere or some of the bits, please let me know so I can contact the police to try and reclaim it.

I'd be extremely grateful to anyone who keeps their eye out for it.

Thanks,

A sad Luke B

Odd car to pinch, small market if it does get broken for spares .
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

Given that a mk1 is fun, relatively worthless and old enough to have pretty basic security I'd imagine it was stolen for kicks on the spur of the moment, ragged around for the night and probably dumped. It'll probably turn up not too far away in the near future, hopefully not burnt out or anything.

Have you tried contacting your local BBC TV station Luke ?

They may be able to bring the theft of your pride & joy to the attention of lots of folk who may have seen it since last Monday

Not tried the local TV station yet. Have checked with the council to see if it has been reported abandoned anywhere and the local breakers to ask them to let me know if anyone tries to bring it in, but still no luck.

Good luck! :(

Like Phil said, more likely it's been driven around a bit. Did it have much fuel?

Not yet. Been checking with police and local authorities, as well as continuously checking ebay, autotrader, pistonheads and gumtree in case the car or any of the bits turn up.

from experience it may be closer to home. a friend had his rs4 stolen & it turned up a week later 1 mile away & going back a bit my father had his escort stolen & it turned up 4 miles away 50 yrds from police station so don't rely on the rozzers to find it as its low priority. hope it goes well for you as id be gutted,id rather the missus went missing ;)

Low priority! I thought we, the public, have to do all the police work these days apart from bolloxing it up in court!

There was a spate of Volvo thefts in south London (2 series, 7 series etc) that was supposedly to ship the bits out to parts of Africa where those models are still popular and original parts = profit. I'm not sure where the evidence for that came from but it seems to make sense as so many of those were swiped in a relatively short period of time. Perhaps there's some part of the world where many people drive round in little Mk1 MR2s and parts are hard to come by. Doubt it though, and I really hope this turns up soon.

From the time I have spent in the UK all I could see was overworked police, thats when I saw any at all. Lots of those people in sort of police uniforms but no police powers types here and there.
