That's unreal... It should no way be gubbed anyways. You won't have done any more than 1k on it and I did about 2miles lol!

Let me know what you find mate.. Really gutted to hear it has caused a problem. Hopefully it's something silly.

I've done about 500 miles mate lol

There is a massive amount of play on the impeller and it grinds when I spin it. It's almost out the car now just got the oil return and unbolt it from the manifold :thumleft:

That's unbelievable dude. Considering its a ball bearing it shouldn't have shat itself like that. I'm baffled. It's not even been pushed mega hard aswell which is the crazy thing.. (It's rated to 2bar + @400+)

Sorry to hear that though bud.. :/

Ill ask my old man for you if he got anything as he ordered it through his mate at Greersport which meant he got it at cost.

Cheers guys

Not checked the restrictor yet. Only had about an hour on it today and was trying to get as much done as possible so I've not really inspected anything

I've heard horror stories about oil starvation due to the restrictor being too small, hence why I asked. Not sure if it's still an issue these days though :-k

I hope it's something you can resolve without too much pain.

Just asked my dad there mate. He didn't get paperwork with it due to it getting done through his mate. However... Regarding the oil restrictor, before I even read this my old man said it shouldn't even have been to do with the restrictor. He said that CR themselves specced the whole thing around what he was looking for. All he had to do was put it into place.

:/ I am absolutely stunned though as is he..

Been a while lol

Got a new cartridge for the turbo and thats all back together now and on the car :D While I've got it apart I've decided to replace certain pipes and clips (water and oil to turbo) which are on order
Got myself a couple of bits while the car has been off the road which will get fitted as soon as its running again :)

Hopefully, your restrictor has been drilled out to 2mm. I've seen 7 or 8 turbos fail due to oil starvation with 1mm restrictors.

I've not drilled out the restrictor to 2mm but I'll do a bit more research... The info I have read so far is very contradicting tbh. There's nothing out there that says a particular size restrictor, not even from Garrett :(

I've done a full oil change whilst doing the turbo and the stuff that came out was really bad.. Something I should have done when I first bought the car but hey ho

The car is back up and running now but the braided water lines wouldn't re-seal so I've fitted temp ones for now (for testing) until I get some new braided ones after Christmas

Also the turbo timer is fitted :)

Time flys when you are having fun it seems :cool1: Been almost a year since my last update so here goes

The new turbo cartridge went in nice and easy and I replaced the pipes and clips, etc and used the car a few times. Then we got married in June this year which was the last time this car got used

Last week I started prepping it for the Highland Drive next April

Started with a new screen to replace the cracked one :)

Ordered a new sump plug as the one on it seeps slightly and some gearbox oil. Still need to pick up some spark plugs and brake pads but I've not decided which pads to go for yet
I'm not gonna do an oil change as its only done about 200 miles since the last change :laughing

Theres a few bits I'm going to transfer from the V6 now the engine has gone to its new owner (re-trimmed dash, TRD ARB's, etc)

Decided to start refreshing the engine bay a little with a bit of powder coating and paint.. Im not going mad but at the moment its looking very weathered

Today I've been to the powder coaters to drop of these few bits which will be ready to collect on Saturday morning :D

Image

Thats it for now really. Gonna book it in for an MOT next week and see what happens :)

I've started my pre Highland drive prep/upgrades/repairs. The car passed its mot but with a slightly leaking front strut and rubbish brakes so I've purchased 2 new koni front inserts (had new rears last year) and new pads :)
Nathan @ Mrtwos did a cambelt change for me a few weeks ago :th:

Heres my list:
1-Tidy up engine bay a little, paint/clean
2-Install powder coated rocker cover and new gasket
3-Install new dizzy cap + rotor arm
4-Install new spark plugs
5-Replace all accessable bolts in engine bay with new stainless
6-Replace both front struts
7-Replace all 4 calipers with freshly refurbed units (after painting them) + brake pads
8-Replace brake lines with braided Goodridge lines I took off the V6
9-Replace unknown make springs with Apex springs I took off the V6
10-Install new sump plug to replace old with leaking washer
11-Full gearbox oil change
12-Install powder coated TRD ARB's + new drop links
13-Install powder coated TRD braces
14-Install Alcantara trimmed dash + centre console I took out the V6
15-Replace stereo (not purchased new yet)
16-Install powder coated Enkei wheels with new tyres (tyres not purchased yet)
17-Install new battery
18-Install new import front plate holder with new plate
19-Full underseal
20-Install new throttle cable to replace bodged one
21-Install full undertrays with stainless bolts

I did steps 1-5 last week so I'm getting there :D Unfortunately the blue silicone hoses will have to stay until I've saved some more money

Old vs New

This one might not make it to the Cotswolds, unless I pull my finger out and get cracking :)
