Anyone used these?

They are built on Michelin casing and are the same tread as the Michelin Pilot Sport....
What do you think? Looks like a bargain

Re: Retread tyres
Technically they are retreads not remoulds so the rubber compound has been melted and then moulded... Not stuck on...
I don't know I just saw them and wondered if they were worth considering..

Re: Retread tyres
If you value your health, other drivers health and the respect of your newly acquired vehicle especially as a potential supercharger conversion, get decent brand new tyres.
I used some cheap radial tyres on my mk1a and I went sideways in the dry on a junction and they had loads of tread on them....I didn't even want to go sideways but they were so crap they just let go.

Re: Retread tyres
buy supermarket own brand corn flakes if you must, buy no name trainers, go on a Sun £9 holiday but don't skimp on tyres FFS! the best that could happen is you don't fully enjoy your car, if it all goes lady lumps skyward you will be backwards in a ditch in no time

Right lets not jump to conclusions here and have a pick on Elliott day!
I haven't said I bought the tyres, I just saw them based on Michelin's and wondered if anyone has used them or know of them.... Obviously its clear now that they are xxxx!
Whats the best combination for a MK1?

Well, that went down like a sh*t sandwich
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.
Re: Retread tyres
Its the compund they use that i'd be worried about. T1-R's are pretty good in 15" size, and i use c.Drives in 14" sizes.
Re: Retread tyres
No one is "picking on" you Elliot
It's not a good idea to use retreads/remoulds on any car
I wouldn't even use budget tyres on my sportscars
A premium tyre & same width front & rear (eg 195/50x15)
Or are you on original 14" wheels ?
Peter

Re: Retread tyres
I went from original 14s to 15s all round and they felt really good.
The 205/50/15 and 185/50/15s you get with the mk3 wheels are terrible. They tramline all over the place. Best to stick to one size.
I found 16s to be very confidence inspiring, a little too much on the loud pedal and it caused understeer.
Get some good 195/50/15s on Toyo T1R, Vredsteins or Yokos.

Tell me about it! lol
I've got mk3 15s on.. Been looking at the T1R, seems like the best choice after the retreats (JUST KIDDING!!)
Re: Retread tyres
Yoko AD08s
They were not available last year (on back order from Japan) when I wanted some
Avalable now

Re: Retread tyres
T1Rs are good on the front but don't last long on the rear, I think I killed a pair in about 6000 miles on my mk1.
Re: Retread tyres
i got 4k miles out of a pair of T1R's. They were grippy as hell, but at like £69 a corner every couple of months, id need a rather large salary to afford it.
IMO Tyres should be a good quality. Only things touching the ground, i want a good grippy set i know isnt going to send me though a hedge.....backwards.....upside down.....

Re: Retread tyres
I once bought a mk2 with remoulds on the rear.
Have to say it was the most fun drive home in the wet
I also took my mk1 on track with marshall tyres, was great fun moving around! Though the squealing from the tyres drove everyone else mad!
Day to day though i would want something with better wet grip

Re: Retread tyres
I bought a set if Mini Cooper alloys for my mother's car, one of which had a retread on and the rest of which had budgets. Insane how little grip they had. I drove the car once and decided there was no way I was letting my mum drive it! Four bridgestones later...
