Oilpressure problems with Gen2 and 3 at high G´s

Post by Toyspeed »

I´m new to the trackracing scen with MR2´s.
But is there a problem with high G´s and oilpressure with the MR2´s ?
And if so, How did you solve it?

Where is the biggest problem? Left, right turns, acceleration or when braking?

There can be issues using semi slick tyres on revision 1 and 2 cars, and we don't use these for Motorsport without fitting a baffled sump (Moroso). The revision 3 engines have a two piece sump that doesn't seem to suffer from oil pickup issues.

Funnily enough I was out testing a customer's turbo race car at Mallory park for this very thing!

So the moroso sump is the way to go?
I read the info I could find about the moroso sump. But I found that there where more dragracingcars that used this sump?

Same forces/g's acting on it, just in different directions.

The morroso's a decent sump and not overly priced really.

I got mine from Summit racing IIRC, (some years ago now though!)

The Moroso sump can be installed in Rev1/2 3S-GE?
Or only fits 3S-GTE?

A winged moroso sump is good middle ground but if its a competition car and you really want to solve the problem as well as ensuring the engine peforms well a dry sump set up is what you need.

We recently have put a couple onto mr2s and have done our own bespoke soloutions for some of our formula 3 chassis customers using Toyota 3sges. I will try and post some pics up here soon
