Re: Project - Cosmos Eagle (New owner)
Finally managed to get round to finishing the wheels off over the weekend
and decided to go with the same goldy bronze on the centre doughnut and black thread and nut
Happy with them so far, couple of imperfections with having to faf around doing them under a lamp at night and battling with spitting halford nozzles . One year I will do things with more time to spare
Just looking foward to seeing what they look like on the car.
Should get them fitted later on in the week, just in time for JAE

Re: Project - Cosmos Eagle (New owner)
***************************************************************Update The Cosmos Eagle now owned by Wilkie Senior
As above, I am now the proud owner of the "Cosmos Eagle" as wilki has gone over to the beemer side!!!! seen here lurking
Just prior to me taking it over from Chris, I had it put into the body shop, (a good one!!!)
A note even if it seems expensive, going to a good body shop compared to "bill down't road, with the greasy overalls.
Do not scrimp!
Anyway they did a great job sorting out little rust bits, sills, small hole in one arch etc
Suffice to say all metal no filler fibre glass bodges etc
Not done much apart from swap over the wheels of the White Eagle
Some of the JDM parts on the white one will find there way on to thecosmos, but I'm not going to body kit is as its in a extremely good state
I am going to keep it more stock looking with "selected" additions

Re: Project - Cosmos Eagle (New owner)
well while im at home recovering from recent op, shes off to the body shop for a bit of fettling
sills have a couple of tiny spots appearing, as with one rear wheel arch, rear bumper to be repsrayed, as with front bumper, a little spot at top of T bar area, bonnet respray
Im still trying to sort out the idling issue Ive been having, its better but still causing issues when warm
Ive replaced dizzy cap, rotor arm, coolant sensor got a MR T one £53!! thought best option, bled it, replacing HT leads did a lead at a time No 4 had such a weak spark, replaced that first wow the difference was like a new car, so replaced the rest, so thought sorted, then when young wilki drove it to the body shop for me, it started flutuating again although much better.
TPS to look at as Ive been advised on our fb group & inspect the ECU for leaking caps etc. hope its not ECU.

Re: Project - Cosmos Eagle (New owner)
Well she came back from the body shop no real issues just one poorly done metal patch done previously, had them cut it out and insert fresh metal, rear & front bumper, bonnet sills rear quarters, and various odd bits re sprayed.
then 4 stage polish done, a bit happier with her how shes looking, plans for over winter, few more areas to get fettled
wilki the younger having a drive in at JAE 2018
looking well on the club plot

Re: Project - Cosmos Eagle (New owner)
Well!!! Well!
Some may have seen my whining elsewhere i thought it appeared my MR2 days would be over!!!
So done some thinking taking into consideration what it owes & the company i have found to rescue her, & the good people who have come forward with rot free shells to cut out the sections i need.
Also as its quite a rare colour & the known history & meeting and knowing all but the every original owner, compared to the cost of getting another 2 or go MX5, i may as well go for it & have it done right so she will be good for another 10 years. (will outlive me)
The last lot of body work has been a total waste of time & money !!!
The body-shop that did the work prior to JAE last year, I was quite explicit " XXXX give her a good look over if there is anything that needs to be done, such as cut out & repair further rot, badly done previous work etc, just call me straight away, give me the details cost etc & i will give you a decision straight away"
Well he ignored that the work hes done is fine to a degree, but hes simply not told me / ignored a bit more rot elsewhere further behind the rear arches, so it needs to be cut out, effectively negating all the previous work, the money spent could have gone towards getting it all done properly.
Hes done the "gloop" on the rear bit on one of the sills!!!
The unfortunate personal turmoil Ive had lately, must have been pent up as i proceeded to scream until i was shaking at the body shop concerned. I will not bore you further with this as, i will resolve this side of it & its not worth publishing War & Peace "he said I said etc"
But Ive found a guy who is a MX5 Specialist (he has owned a couple of turbos in the past) who it went in for some small bits TPS etc, he always inspects every car coming into him as standard procedure takes photos etc, he gave me a call, and showed me the bad news.
Having seen the amount of people at his place & the quality of the work, (an old friend I had lost touch with, hes a MX5 owner recommended me) its as if most of the MX5 community got to him!
So from want to shove it off the edge of a cliff, im going to get her back to
her former glory, I will update here as we progress, shes booked in for the 11th March so a week of solid work, on her then to the sprayers after that, and back to the MX5 shop for final touches so all being well she will be back out for some sunshine fun.

Well got one side for the rebuild, (its much a larger piece than needed but Im covering all bases with this.
Its the bottom bit in the boot where the vent grill is that need doing, but I have the full arch inner & outer now for the future, hopefully the chap in Bradford is still able to cut a section out of one of his breakers!
Its booked in for the 11th March so here we go again!!!
ready to be collected
in the car like a glove!!
nice and solid where i need it to be
