Who is tall and drives a MK2??

Post by Danbob »

Just had a sit in my Mk2 tonight (not running so don't have much cause to sit in it usually) and noticed that it's a bit tight inside.

I'm 6'4" and not to slim, does anyone else of similar proportions drive a MK2 and get away with it comfortably?

It's got the GT leather seats in at the moment that are quite bulky, maybe I could get some lower seat rails and slimmer profile buckets in to help a bit.

I'm 6'2" and I fit no problems in my hardtop. Even with a helmet on there is a little bit of room.

6'5 - no problems.
The original seats have a lot of movement which helps.

buckets seats are 'generally' smaller, wont help you.

iirc, half leather seats are more roomy than the full leather, with cloth seats having the most amount of room for the ass!

Cheers for the Replies, sounds like I'm not alone then! Guess we'll have to wait and see when I get it on the road then!

I'm 6'4", but I'm like a rake which possibly helps. With leather seats, I have about an inch of space above my head before the roof (tintop, not T-bar)

Does a tintop have more or less headroom than a Tbar (with the covers out)?

6ft2 and sit tall rather than slouched.

I drive with the Tbar blinds out for more headroom and I like the extra light.

If the car hits a big bump I have not seen then my head can hit the tbar glass. Definitely no room for a helmet.
Seats are half alcantera/leather.

I drive with maximum gangsta lean but have never hit my head :D. Still interested to know if a tintop has any more head room??

I'm 6'4'', have a t-top. I do notice when i need a haircut as my hair brushes on the roof.

I have a hardtop as well, its been off the road more often than not but it gives the feeling of having more headroom. Give me about a month and i'll report back when the tiptop turbo becomes my daily.

6'5", recumbant driving position preferred, slight care needed over speed bumps

6'5" here too and have no problems with head or leg room. It's better than most other cars I've been in, in fact.
