1998 Black Revision 5 GT Turbo, 400hp, mag featured, **SOLD**

Post by jimGTS »

It's a sad day, but it's time to sell my cherished Rev5 turbo.

brief spec;
1998 JDM Revision 5 Toyota MR2 GT Turbo hardtop, black

Apexi RX6B top mount turbo
Custom 1 off chargecooler system
Forged build
HKS cams and HKS cam gears
850 injectors and walbro fuel pump
Power FC ECU tuned
BBS LM 18inch wheels
Phoneix power Dep11 PRO exhaust.
lowered on Ohlins
(403hp, 360lb of torque at 1.4bar)

Make no mistake, this is a real beauty. I've taken meticulous care of this car over the last 3 1/2 years in my ownership.

I've been a member of this and other mr2 forums for 8 odd years, and its going to be sad leaving such a crazy and enthusiastic punch of people.

The car has always had the best parts, fluids and mods that money can buy, nothing has been skimped on in my time as a fello mr2 nut!

I'm sure I don't need to explain the rarity of this revision car being one of the last made mk2 mr2s in production. Very few were built alongside the Rev5 BEAMS which is also rare a breed in itself.
Due to the high yen to pound over the last few years, very few (if any) rev5 turbos have been imported into the country since my own. You only need to check the classifieds to see there is no other genuine rev5 turbo for sale, or has been for sale for a long time!

Ontop of this rarity, the car has been fully but sensibly tuned to over 400hp! It has been extraordinarily reliable at this level of power and has done me proud over the last 15000 miles of road use. Starts 1st time with ease, you can do the shopping in it, travel across the country in it, take it for a day long B road country lane blast in it, it has never missed a beat and I'm probably crazy for even remotely thinking about selling it, let alone going ahead with it!

The Rev5s imports came with red lettered speedo, lovely updated steering wheel, dual airbags, revised ABS system, metal inner door sills, speed flaps, lovely rear spoiler on top of ditching the indicator tobleromes and putting them into the wings like the UK cars. Its also believed to have the strongest block of all the revisions (extra meat around the water pump area).

The car has been mag featured in the last ever MR2 Only magazine, also the very first Toyota performance magazine.

Image

they even did a small video of the car on the shoot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y8W_WvLjpE

the car has had upwards of £15,000 spent on it by its previous owner in japan as well as a sizeable contribution by myself over the years on top of the original cost of the car!
Discovering and doing research on the mods during ownership it has also become apparent its potentially a phoenix power tuned car given the huge list of phoenix power goodies that came with the car when i bought it.

grab this very rare opportunity to own not only one of the rarest mr2s in the country, (and in the world) but hopefully id like to think, one of the most tastefully modified mr2s on the forums to.

MOTS, all mots since ive owned it passed 1st time with flying colours!
Servicing, all has been carried out by myself

the car has been run at santa pod a couple of times, best time to date is a 12.8 at 116mph with a poor 2.3 60ft time. there is definatly a low 12 or high 11 in there with a decent launch!

aside from this, its never been to a track circuit for racing, just purely used as a fast road car.

condition

exterior;
Lovely lovely condition, bar the odd blemish to be expected on a 14 year old car.
Wheels and exhaust look amazing (couple have small area of very light curbing)

interior;
mint lovely interier! non smokers car

engine;
runs very nicely indeed and has done me well.

addtional notes;

i am prepared to remove the powerFC ecu, injectors and boost controller to lower the costs of the vehicle if you so wish, and replace with standrd ecu, and standard injectors enabling the car to be run at a reliable safe low boost level but still make 320+hp!!! est.

most recent servicing

lightweight shockproof gearbox oil (£70) few months ago
10w50 silkolene PRO S changed at 79000 miles. OEM filter (have always used OEM filters).
toyota FORLIFE coolent changed a couple of years ago.
Plugs, Dizzy, Cap changed summer last year.
4 wheel lazer alinment by Elite when rear tyres were fitted

cons
due to removing a couple of gauges, 1 pillar gauge hole will be empty..
i will also be removing the Headunit, amps and speakers along with the recaro seats you see in these pictures, i have replaced the seats with some nice condition Rev3 UK cloth seats.
the screamer pipe recently fell off, i believe 3 of the 4 studs have snapped in the wastegate housing, simply need drilling out and retapping. thankfully screamer pipe itself i didnt loose. Car still perfectly useable and has not been an issue.

MOT, i believe July 2012
Tax, again i believe June 2012

priced to sell, you will not come across a MR2 of this age and specification again!

please contact me via PM as i work silly hours.
sensible offers only!

£7950ono

Stock calipers (but endless brake lines), but with added benifit of a revised jdm rev5 abs system.
I've never had any issues on spirited drives on my crn discs and redstuff pads. Plenty enough for the mr2 IMO for fast road use, hense never had a need to upgrade, never crossed my mind really. Depends how hard you'd use it.

Well let me introduce myself, my name is Julian and used to be on here and MR2OC and at that time I used to own a UK Rev5 converted with a REV3 turbo clip and then proceeded to upgrade this with an ATS TDO6 kit and made something like 352bhp ATW.

This was modified just the way I liked it, then marriage beckoned and couldn't keep the 2, got a RAV4, married and had a baby

http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... ght=julian

I sold this to Rash and swore never to buy an MR2 again..that was 4 years ago.

Just by pure chance I looked on IMOC and saw JimGTS care for sale and sort of knowing the spec already and this being a genuine Rev5 turbo, I had to have it and the deal was as Jim says completed over a week ago!

Things are a little different now, so won't be modding her any further than what Jim has completed already! That was the attraction of Jims car, solid, well modded and just at the stage I would like to keep her as is, so no chasing numbers, 350 whp will do me fine

I'm gonna try and come to a few meets, the odd Kent run, but with a 9 month old baby its gonna be thought to juggle this but I aim to try!! :th:

Jim had a well sorted and planted 2 and I aim just to keep her as it, maybe a change of gauges, and aesthetics but the core will remain as Jim had kept it!

Thanks Jim for all your help, he replied to my many messages and always kept me up to date and was great today, in the wet (ooh er ;) ) and got her ready for sale! :clapping:

I cant wait to take her out for a proper spin then I'll take some piccies and post up

Cheers Juliankv73 :D
