Can rev2 dizzy cap be replaced with rev3 dizzy?

Post by djminor »

Is it possible to replace a rev2 turbo 5mm (boot/push-on) type distributor cap, with a rev3 7mm boot type distributor cap (+ rotor arm if needed)?

I purchased a set of KV85 leads, however, they dont fit correctly & due 2 my own stubbornness, i want to make them work perfectly!
Can anyone help? Any advice is appreciated.
I apologise if this has been posted before but thanks in advance.

Well I took a copper dizzy cap from a Rev 2 Turbo, and fitted to a Rev 4 NA, so in theory it should work if the leads suit the cap type...

The coil / ignitor pack can also wear out causing some of the symtoms you note.

I have a similar thing with mine the leads don't fit on the cap properly due to the AA man getting the incorrect one for my car, it stilll ran right well till a lead pops of, thus being sodding annoying, I am replacing the full lot on mine as am not sure which dizzy am meant to have for the TRD leads that are fitted (thus causing the confusion I would believe)
