[Mk2] [Generic] Roof 'spoiler' removal

Post by 2tmike »

Hi, I need to take of the body colour trim piece that goes above and to each side of the back window (sometimes referred to as a spoiler). I can see a couple of screws each side below the engine inspection covers, but how is it attached to the roof itself ?

Hi mike.

You need to rmove the roof interior parts aligned to the rear window
There I believe you see 4 or 6 nuts.. remove them :)

The lowest part of that "spoiler "is attached with click system..
Just gently pull it loose.

Nooooo  Dont remove the headlining, just the hard plastic trim that butts upto the back window :thumleft: From memory you'll need a long 8mm socket to get to the nuts that hold the trim on.

trim

That sounds better ! Just pull the plastic trim above the window straight out without disturbing the quarter panel trims? and what chance the clips not breaking ?

The top trim is just clipped. Gently pull bit by bit, normally the clips won't snap.

I can't tell from memory if the top one can be pulled of before removing some other trim.

You might need to take of the side trim and rear quarter trim first before being able to get the top one of.
