Midlands/MK meets?

Post by oddball »

Hi ppl, Am new to the club. Are there any regular or planned meets/cruise's in the midlands or MK areas? Am sick of seing scoobys everywhere and would like to catch up with some MR2 drivers (dont see enough of them on the road around N'ampton)
If not, would anyone else be interested in trying to set something up?

I'm probably going to organise another Hobby Horse meet soon(ish) - just waiting for the excitement of JAE to go, as well as people coming back from holidays.
Junction 21a of the M1, so not a million miles away from you! :)
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!

As you know, there's Northants Jap which only has one or two regular scoobs a load of FTO's, RX7's, a few MR2's, Skylines etc... Also now the monthly Northants Scooby meet is frequented by a couple of MR2's (including a MKI  ), Evo's, other jap motors and abviously a hoard of scoobs.

I'd be up for a monthly meet in Milton Keynes. I live about 30mins drive away.

I think we should do something......MR2 meet or Jap car meet. Loads of people in this area......Luton, MK, Hitchin, Stevenage, Bedford, northampton etc etc etc

The Caldecott Arms pub in Milton Keynes (South) is a great venue.
This is a popular choice and I have been at this venue with Honda Revolutions and FTOOC.

There is a monthly Jap meet already held at the Caldecott Arms. SOX (Southern Oxford Jap) are the organisers of the event. We (Northants Jap) joined them last month expecting quite a large turn out but there were only about 30-40 cars. Not a bad attempt nonetheless. Next month (August) they have Jtuner magazine dropping in to do an article. Expect the car park to be full 8)
I will start a thread as soon as info become available.

Do you come down from Leicester for it then?
I heard that the cruise was for Chavs and that people race around car parks etc and then the police arrive and disperse it all......is this true?

Us lot from Northants Jap pop over to this once a quarter for a laugh. Any more would be a headache - rates very high in the chav stakes.

It's one of the UK's only legal cruises - so has a huge police precence with a lot of producers and tickets issued as well as the odd arrest.

Some of the chav muppets go off else where for a bit of street racing - which is just plain stupid. I have heard of a few accidents etc... I haven't been to this "extended event".

Hi Steven, It's not SXOC, It's SOX (Southern Oxford Jap). Although their members are not "restricted" to Southern Oxford any more...

I have photos from the last meet where Northants Jap on page three of this thread here:

cruiseleics go down every now and then (i've been twice only)
Yep is a bit chav, but chance to see some mad modded cars of all types/tastes.
didn't see any trouble when i went, and for so many 100's cars a police presence is good idea - will stop some problems starting surely? they didn't move us on.
the car parks were too full when i went to enable car-park racing - hard to find a space to park tbh. there was a magazine shoot when i went so maybe why so busy.

The site isn't working at all right now either... I know they are trying to register the whole forum under a new name so they could have lost a few bits (like 90% of it) :eye:

Will keep you posted 8)
