Countach

Post by tottacrolla »

Last summer, I live next to a B road and the speed limit past my house is 30mph.
It's a nice sunny Sunday afternoon and my wife and I are relaxing in the garden like you do.
All of a sudden there is a sound like thunder coming from the road outside and then it's gone. Nothing unusual really, just someone with a dustbin for an exhaust I guess.
Ten minutes later, same thing but faster this time. And so it goes on every ten minutes or so and now if I listen carefully I can hear the noise for about six of the ten minutes.
After an hour of this I decide to see what's going on, waiting by the gate yep here it comes, a red Lamborghini Countach blasts by 60mph minimum. The speed is normal for here but why does he have to do it all afternoon ?
I decide to find out...
No point expecting him to stop so I can ask so I fire up the 2 Turbo.
Sitting in the driveway I wait and wait then with the sound like thunder the lambo blasts by.
The MR2 is nicely warmed up so I give chase, there are some long fast open corners on the de-restricted road outside the village and I'm on a mission. I catch a glimpse of him on the long straight must be three quarters of a mile away. Keep it flat, keep it flat. He's out of sight by the time I enter the bendy stuff but that's where I can make up the time and yes sure enough the 2 starts to reel him in and after a very short time and carrying some speed my timing seemed spot on, a short straight between two corners we just went straight passed him !
I waited at a roundabout further down the road and he drew up alongside,
I wound down the window and asked him what the story was, why was he going round in circles making so much noise "I'm doing passenger rides for my mates" came his reply.
This particular passenger mate also replied to me "can I go back with you mate ?"
The driver seemed like a nice chap I kind of felt sorry for him !
The MR2 Turbo is an astonishingly good car for the money, the Countach on the other hand.......

Lol, nice post.

Although the Countach is a genuine prestige car I'm just not into how the Countach looks so I'd take my chaved up, modified to hell rice rocket of an MR2 myself

The Gallardo is a thing of beauty though.

One thing about the Countachs I find amazing is the size of the rear tyre:

Bet they're super expensive and hard to get hold of nowadays!

Is a legendary, shockingly beautiful machine with a monster (tractor) engine.

Took the lambo on a few track days, got the bug but also learnt how quickly and expensive the lambo was on tyres/brakes and such, also couldn't push too hard as didn't want to smash it.

Decided to buy a good value track car, which I could push without too much worry if I had an off, then found the MR2 Championship so decided to build a race car... a cheaper way of having fun on track.

The MR2 looks nothing like it did in that picture now, full race build which is going on track for the first time in a couple of weeks :)

Alternatively this story is a complete fabrication and didn't take place.
