[Mk2] [Turbo] Is this new clutch normal

Post by dbiagioni »

I recently did a gearbox change on my mr2. Anyway when I took the box off, I thought i would check the the clutch and decided to change it.

I bought a clutch on e-bay and they sent me the wrong clutch so in the end i bought an exedy one from a local motor factor and put that in.

11 working days later this turned up:

Theres a couple of boxes at the back of the garage, so checked if it fits the spline and it does.

The thing which looks odd to me is in the centre four of the parts dont have springs.

Is this normal?

It seems that the OE clutch uses rubber blocks (first time I've ever seen it too!) instead of springs.

It should be fine :)

I have a stage 1 exedy friction plate right here and it has springs all the way around...how long are rubber blocks gonna last in there? I would aquire a set of springs to be on the safer side of safe man...if it is normal...it can't be as good as a set of strong steel springs.

The clutch which i put on had springs all the way round but was more expensive than this one.

I suppose you get what you pay for.

Back on e-bay it goes
