Questions and future upgrade

Post by excalibur1814 »

Hello,

http://www.turbo-kits.com/mr2_s_turbo_kits.html

Ok. If I was being insane and actually thinking of purchasing the above item, would someone like myself and a Step Father who is a mechanic (likes hammers) really even consider being let loose on my car.

Or.. how much would a garage charge me to fit such a thing?

Thoughts?

Hmm

ahhh...

* Not all parts are bolt-on. Universal piping kit will need to be custom modified at an exhaust shop to adjust for the correct bends. *

* Requires a down pipe which needs to be connected to existing exhaust. A custom adapter needs to be fabricated from a place such as an exhaust shop. *

* Other parts you need or should get is Turbo Manifold, Boost Controller, Turbo Timer, and Engine/Fuel Management System. *

Never mind then.

If you wanted a turbo for your Roadster then I'd be nipping over to ROC and buying the C2 turbo thats for sale over there from a very well established member

That's actually very cheap for a turbo kit. That first one you posted (which is the Hass kit, and is utterly crap) is going to run you more than Phil's C2 kit. Don't try and do turbo stuff cheap, it really isn't worth the hassle.

Well... I actually asked the first company from the first link for a copy of the instructions:

I do not have a photocopy of the install instructions to send out, but I would be happy to answer any specific tech questions you may have! Let me know. Thanks!

Please reply with a copy of the original message. Failure to do so may result in your question not being answered.

The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of cheap price is forgotten.

Quoted pricing may change without notice.

That means that he's lost any thought that I had of a sale. I think that I'm dreaming anyway. Might think about this again later on in the year or next.

It's just adding fitting on top you see. I could have provided instructions with that one to my step Father who etc. Oh well.

Tbh if you have the knowledge of how a turbo kit works (and you really should before contemplating doing the conversion) then it's really straightforward.

Yes and there is a wealth of knowledge on that particular system and one running in Manchester

... Owned a R5 GT Turbo and then a Mr2 Turbo so I have looked into how it all happens but I'd probably have to remind myself of a lot of things.

Ahhh, Suppose I'll just have to do with a Magnex exhaust and the pre-cats removed.

You could take an alternative mk3 turbo route...

... As long as it didn't mean an engine re-build I'd go for a 3sgte in a mk3!

I wouldn't like to ask how much it would cost to fit though. :?

With that sort of knowledge and a Step Father in the trade then it should be a doddle to fit Phil's C2 kit
