[Mk2] [Turbo] Power FC A/C idle issue

Post by gtfour-wrc »

Gents,

I thought I'd wire in my SW20 AP Engineering PFC to my 1990 ST185 this weekend. I repinned my harness extension, plugged my JDM gen2 ECU(89661-17380) for which my PFC was made for and turned the key.

IGN to SPARK to IDLE =

So I proceeded to plug in the PFC and it fired up without any CELs and all sensors were working via the PC Commander screen. I start going through the idle learning process with the PFC and I am able to get a steady 850-900revs at idle. When I turn the A/C on, the engines hunts for idle continuously and you can hear the A/C clutch engage/disengage every second. When I check the sensor screen on my commander the AC and ACR sensors are flashing.

I plugged in the JDM ecu and the A/C works fine. So I know the wiring is ok.

Anyone with a PFC have any ideas ?

Thanks

So I've spent some time today trying to source what is causing the A/C to go haywire when using the AP Eng. PFC.

I double checked all my wiring, Then I thought I'd start looking into the AC1 and ACT pins. I removed the ACT pin from the harness and found that the A/C compressor and clutch no longer engage and disengage constantly.

This is a step forward but may cause issues down the track so, can anyone explain what exactly does the ACT pin do?

My BGB states it is an AC Amplifier, but what exactly is it amplifying?

Thanks

iv just had a thought mate, you have done the 30 minute learning thing ?
the first time you plug the pfc in it needs to learn your cars idles

yep, let it learn for 30 mins and still had the A/C compressor issues. Removed pin - ACT1 out of the equation and it works fine even though A/C idles a little rough.

Do you know what ACT1 amplifies in the A/C system? All 3sgte harnesses seem to have it.

Thanks,

Nope,

Still trying to figure it out.

xxxx$ me really cause I can drive and use the A/C fine on the JDM Rev2 ecu.

I'll keep at it though.
