XBOX360 Achevements......

Post by platmatt8 »

I found myself looking through a stack of games that i haven`t played for a long long time, some 2nd hand but some new and i realised i`d only bought them for the achevments #-o e.g fusion frenzy

The question is would you buy a game purely for achevments? :-k

i try to get as many trophies (ps3 equivalent to achievements) as i can on a play through of a game but i never usually play through more then once to get all of them unless the game is just that damn good ( dead space, uncharted 2)

my mate on the other hand gets as many games as he can with easy achievements and makes sure he gets 1000g's on each game. if he has some1 on his friends list with a higher gamer score then him he will delete them lol
some people just take it too seriously

sod achievements, I hardly bother with the game itself, I mainly buy games for online action

I've had Cod MW2 since it was release and done sod all on the game, but am nearly on second prestige online and only owned it since Nov 11

I barely look at what mine is

I get achievements by accident, I don't buy games according to points for achievements

Hell no. It does my head in actually.

Mainly got the mate i normally play with is obsessed with them and only plays for the points.

Ruins the game when he is just trying to get to the end.

The amount of times weve played a shooter and got in a big firefight only for me to be left fending them off whilst he trys to run to the end of the level.

Ruins it totally.

The mate, I always play with online is the same as me regarding gamerscore, we did GOW2 on insane and just spent the time it took just totally rip up the locust

Like you say, it would ruin the game if all it was played for was achievements

They're fun to challenge yourself for, but to buy a game just for some gamerscore points is about as daft as you can get.

I wouldn't purchase a game based on trophies/achievements but as said they're a good inclusion to the current gen gaming that challenge you and make you go back to a game once you've finished it. If your missing a couple the game is telling you your a failure as you haven't actually 100%'d the title as the makers set out

But that is part of the game like the tags etc on previous GTA games.

Others are stupidly easy to nigh on impossible but the latter at least give you a challenge. There's one in Trine on PSN to create 500 objects in a single level with the Wizard, That trophy is utterly pointless as I doubt the poorest of gamers create that many objects in 16 levels over the entire game from start to finish.

my brother is obsessed with achievments

he played mw2 all the way through on veteran first and then give up on it he will not play it online as he doesnt get any achievments for it ](*,)

he has had an xbox for about a year and has got a gamer score of 50,000 odd

i have had one for 4 years nearly and my gamer score is about 6,000 but then for the last year or so i have only played about 4 games where he has probably done 40

I have just hit 1500 on my 360.
How exciting!

I think like Sam said they add to a game but in reality are totally pointless.

I think its Ubisoft that have done it right.

Think it was them anyway. You get points that you can use to aquire new content when you play.

Be good if Trophies and Achievement points were the same.

As i said before though. Crackdown had my faves achievments.

Classics like..

Use explosives to keep a body up in the air for 10 seconds

and

Blow up 100 explosive objects in 60 seconds

Which is exactly why I won't buy CoD8 when it comes out. If they want to focus 90% on the on-line stuff then that's fine as it's their game and they can do what they want with it, but I certainly won't be paying any money for it.
