Anyone know of a cheaper place to get my Mk1 insured since Adrian Flux want £370 this year with a £350 excess.
Thats the quote with the following:
1988 1.6 MR2 T-Bar
Cat 2 immobiliser
Mongoose exhaust & K&N filter
12 years NCB
Mileage 10'000 miles per year
Age 33
No points on licence
Surely they must be having a laugh?

You should be able to do better than that Ian, give Sky and A-Plan a try. They've alvays given me competitive quotes and good service.
Re: Insurance again.
Sorted.
Had Ollie PM me.
Now insured with his company slightly cheaper premium but a lot cheaper excess and easier to pay over 10 months.
Thanks Ollie

Re: Insurance again.
This is awful mate considering im:
Age: 24 (at time of renewal)
7 years NCB
Stainless Steel Exhaust
No immobiliser or alarm
12,000 miles a year
No points on licence
And they charge me £245 protected fully comp
I have however just got 3 points put on my license for using my mobile whilst driving, does anyone think that'll hurt me badly?

Blimey, that was quick, I haven't even had an email from my colleague to confirm he called you!
You are very welcome, you know where I am if you have any queries

It should make very little difference, if any.

Re: Insurance again.
If you insure another car you should have considered a classic car policy. I only pay £220 a year which includes breakdown cover.
ps. My SP30 made about £50 difference.

Re: Insurance again.
Do a google for Lancaster Insurance based in St Ives .I pay £122 fully comp allowing 3.5k miles, payable over 12 months, on a classic policy.
For an extra £15 an agreed valuation is allowed (mine is £2.500)

Re: Insurance again.
Is anyone insured with Houghton Insurance? I have been with them for about 5 years now but may be looking for a change for a couple of reasons which i won't go into here. Just wondering what others think? I only pay £131 for 1500 miles cover on a classic policy so i suppose i shouldn't complain. Just thinking about a change.
Re: Insurance again.
Strange one as my car is insured through flux really cheap
28 years old
3k miles
No ncb (on another car)
Possibly worst postcode in country
Car is mk1 T bar, lowered with alloys
Costs me £128 fully comp with £100 excess.

Sounds like a classic scheme.

Re: Insurance again.
Thought it was but most don't allow modifications do they? Also there is only a slight increase when I drop the 3s-ge in!

Some do, some dont, the main things for classic schemes is that the car usually needs to be a second vehicle, kept in garage, linited mileage, no young drivers etc

I'm with/was with lancaster. They didnt mind to much about leaving the car outside and having claims plus they only state that you have access to another car where as others say you have to be a policy holder on another car which i wasnt at the time.
