Naughty Dog co-president Christophe Balestra has said that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves would be"impossible" to port onto the Xbox 360 due to its technical demands.
Published by Sony Computer Entertainment, the sequel to 2007's Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is due out this October as a PS3 exclusive.Speaking to Ars Technica, Balestra said that he is
"100% sure" that the game would not work on the Xbox 360.
He pointed to the PS3's in-built Blu-ray capacity and hard drive as proving the pivotal factors, largely because Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will use"every single bit" of its 25GB disc.
"You can play the entire game without loading.
We don't require an install.
We're doing all the post-processing effects on the SPUs
(synergistic processing units).
The quality of the depth of field we have, you can't do that on the Xbox," he explained.
"We've invested a lot of time maximising the power of the machine.
That's our job, to make the PS3 shine.
"
Balestra also said that Naughty Dog is"very open" to sharing its technical developments with other third-party PS3 developers.
