anykind of paint stripper, just dont leave it on too long or it will start to corrode the metal.

For best results, abrade the surface with some wet and dry to key the surface, lets the strippr work much faster :thumleft:

what colour are you painting it?

Also are you going to lag the bottom with heat reflective material? if so what will you use? Just that im about to do mine shortly also

If you can, make sure its a light colour, to better reflect the heat :thumleft:

Silver, or another metallic colour would be the best bet.
Rather than heat relective material, how bout an insulator of some kind ?

Well at the moment I'm undecided, I may paint it 6M1(mica green/goodwood green) like the car, then have some gold badges made up to match my wheels.

Yeah I am considering this, I think it would be a good idea just to try and minimise any heatsoak. I'd also like to duct some airflow in between the gap between the bottom of the core and the cam cover.

Not too sure mate, some asbestos would work

how much room is there between the bottom face and the head ?

Not a great deal as I understand it, any insulation type material would have to be pretty thin.

I think I might just go with some reflective material, then use the vent that fed the intercooler to place a new fan triggered off the engine bay temp switch, which feeds some ducting blowing air into the gap between the head and c/c.

Get some pics up when you finish it bud, green would look cool with the toyota 2000 twin entry turbo written in gold like your wheels.

is air not one of the best insulators, space the core up so it sits firther from the head, and put ice in your resevoir to lower temps even further

:oldtongue:

The fan/ducting idea is mainly just to keep some airflow when the car is stationary, when the car is moving I should imagine there would be enough airflow to keep that gap cool, and the reflective material should keep the bulk of the heat out of the cc core.

Will do Chris, I think thats probably the way I'll go, just need to get the rest of the engine bay looking as good as this will!

lol i know what you mean bud, the only thing that looks half decent in my engine bay is my ARC Box. Could you let us know where you get your heat proofing from too when you lag it :thumleft:

I lagged mine with a sheet of insulation from ebay, stuck it on with some 2k adhesive.

Why strip all the paint off?? Would be easier to just flat any marks out of it and then go over it all with a 1000 pad or a scotch pad and then paint it ;)

Do as he said. No need to strip it down. I didn't on mine before I painted it.
