[Mk2] [Turbo] Which Downpipe?

Post by Dean_82 »

Looking at maybe getting a downpipe for my rev3 turbo to compliment my blitz nurspec. I've noticed there are a few options. Whats the best value for money option?

I see the blitz downpipe has a flexi which is why i'm favouring it at the mo. But the xs power one is cheap, but is it crap?/likely to crack?
And the EMS one looks decent and comes with a gaurantee but its a task as they based state side......

Thanks :)

I believe 3s gutted my standard CAT when they fitted my nur. Will I not see much gains from replacing a gutted cat with 3" downpipe?

Oh maybe it wasnt the blitz then your probably right dude I cant remember for sure....

You can see downpipes on ebay for £60 odd. I know you normally get what you pay for...Anyone one here actually got one?

not worth the money imo.
at the MOST id expect you'd get about 5hp on a dp compared to a gutted stock cat.

These are a nice bit of kit:

XS power will crack.

Try a post in the wanted section, someone may have a cheap downpipe kicking around.

i wouldnt touch xs power downpipes, i have the berk tech downpipe got it from gts chris (was £140 or something for rev3) its a good bit of kit, everythings so much more free flowing now & the turbo feels like its spooling faster.

i have it mated to my blitz nur spec and the sound it incredible especially with the nur spec bung removed, it could wake the dead lol

get one :thumleft:

Im glad i've read this post because a downpipe has been something i've been thinking about (along with the Nur!).

Im guessing this would be a straight fit to the Nur?

Also, any vids of your car with the above setup???

I'm sure if you did a search on cracked downpipe most of the threads would contain the word ebay and or xs power

I have a berk dp and it's a quality bit of kit and is very well made. I had a chance to compare it to a 'random ebay' downpipe and the difference in quality between the berk and the ebay dps is like night and day. The welds on the ebay one looked shonky and the whole thing felt very light. Compared to the berk which had good welds and felt very sturdy.

Also another problem you might have with the ebay downpipes is the wastegate flapper may get stuck on the end of the bellmouth, which can lead to some boosting issues unless you grind the bellmouth down a bit so it no longer catches.

In short, the ebay stuff is fine if you dont mind buying cheap and dont mind faffing about with something that doesnt fit and will probably break somewhere down the line.

Knowing this thread i'll probably get a tonne of replys saying their ebay downpipe lasted 200k miles now.

Berk would be sweet if GTSChris had any Rev3 in stock now..although im told he's got some on the way.
To be fair all downpipes are gonna crack at some point, just some quicker than others!
