Insurance -be weary please... SKY out tops again

Post by RST »

Hi Folks,

I've put this up after a bit of bad experience 2 times out of 2 and have been bady let down.

Be very careful when obtaining insurance quotes from Adrian Flux. Before I get into trouble please treat this as a bit of friendly advice only…

This is the second time I have bought a vehicle based on a written insurance quotation from Adrian Flux, only to find out after the deal has been done on the vehicle that when I go to activate the policy there has been an "internal error" and they have quoted on a different vehicle although the written quotation provided to me reflects the correct details. Their original insurer then declines the policy and the cost of the premium rises substantially (up to 3 times the price in my experience). Both times the error appears only when I call to activate the policy –not the times I may have called before to double check the details or clarify the terms to make sure everything's OK before I make the decision on the car.

This happened to me with my GT4 mid last year and again this past week as I am picking up an old school VW Caddy pickup tomorrow. I tell you phoning back to check details again, triple checking and obtaining details in writing beforehand seems to stand for nothing

This time I ended up checking the FSA website then called Consumer Rights and was told that because no money had been taken then there was nothing which could be done.

…Both times I have changed to Sky Insurance who practically sorted me out instantly with “real” policies and were to be fair the best quotations after the Flux willy-ups.

I have been with Flux for nearly 3 years on the MR2 as I have an agreed value of £8k which wasn’t available if I changed. I seriously doubt I will use them again on the MR2 –particularly as last year they originally renewed the MR2 policy as a Robin Reliant on the certificates –how far out was that =; I spent over 3h on the phone solid the other day after the Flux phone call just trying everyone I could before time ran-out and I picked up the Caddy.

Not a great advert I guess for Flux but at least I can offer a solid recommendation for Sky Insurance who, after the usual paperwork corrections appear to provide a far superior service :thumleft: Whether it's a guarntee that's the best price or not I don't know (has been last 2 times I checked though), but they are straight with their answers and appear to stick by their word.

I know there will be folk who have got on OK, and I know this relates to 2 other non-MR2 vehicles but I thought a heads up might be in order –that's twice it's happened to me within a year with them and I get the feeling it's not an isolated case. They don't seem keen to keep customers returning to them anyway which is a shame.

...Just be careful with them please, you've been warned now!

Richard
