MOT Failure!!!!!

Post by jim-mapps »

:pale:

Just got my car back and she's failed her test :pale:

A few little things like headlamps being aimed too high and wipers not working well enough (Though I've never had a problem with them), the only big one really is the offside sill needs welding / replacing. Seem to remember someone saying an escort sill fits?? :-k

Needs 1 new brake pipe and the handbrake needs adjusting.

Could be worse considering the car only cost me £460, only thing for now is I've only got 3 days till it's test runs out and I don't get paid for 3 weeks :pale:

Sorry to hear that mate. I don't think mine's ever gone through an MOT first time but don't worry!

Brake pipes are cheapest from Camskill I think but if you need to replace more than one you might as well buy a braided set. Goes without saying that 2nd hand ones are a silly idea.

Headlamps aimed too high is a bit of a cop out - they are adjustable from the dashboard on UK spec cars and from 2 small sprung screws recessed from the front of the lamp on import cars. Wipers cost sod all, you can get a Bosch set for about £8 off eBay. Handbrake adjustment can be done manually as well - do a search on here.

Aye Ithought the headlamp thing was a bit rubbish, I gather one is much higher than the other so I'll have to get in there and level them up.

Only major thing really is the sill, got a body shop, "doing some research" and ringing me back with a price today. hopefully not too much, I have told him I want it doing properly and they've a very good reputation. I just hope I don't have to do without her for 3 weeks while I wait for payday.
