[Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 5 Turbo

Post by starmist »

What benefits are there in having a Rev5 turbo over a 3 or a 4?
I know they have a bigger spoiler but do they also get the LSD?

The downside to any post 95 car is that you can't get it through the MOT without a CAT using the well known loophole.

The rev5's had a different spoiler, more modern wheels as standard and red stitching on the gear knob and seats. Oh and the speedo and instruments have red markings.

Still despite the notional differences, the rev4's and rev5's command a higher price point because they are rare.

LSD's were fitted as standard to post 94 cars I believe.

I wonder if there were other less publicised tweaks made because my rev4 turbo feels much better and usable tghan my rev3 turbo ever did...

Are you looking to buy?

But I bet the price of them will fall soon due to that 10 year import wait thing being up on them meaning more will be comming in.

Difference is: interior (seat fabric), steering wheel, dials, gearknob, spoiler, alloys, front wheel deflectors....

Maybe, but there are a lot less of them than the earlier MR2s to start with.

I don't really like the look of the rev 4/5 spoiler and wheels.

I've heard a few people say the rev 4/5 has a slightly thicker block than earlier rev's but that could be rubbish.

i heard something similar.

rev1/2 block, good, rev3 block, thin, they then revised the rev4/5 block so not thin.

after owning a rev5 for a few weeks, the wing has really grown on me!

rev5 wing is easily the best looking, bringing the mk2 shape up to date nicely

that statement is true.
however, you can get a post 95 car through an MOT without a CAT. just depends on your emissions.
so, no downside for me.

True. Just a case of picking the right, friendly/petrol head MOT tester. Some won't pass a car without CAT.

Then they need telling how to do their job then, no specific need for a CAT, if you pass you pass, if your emissions are too high then you don't

ON the rev5 note, i too think the spoiler is the nicest of the 3, plus the standard wheels are soooo much nicer than the standard rev 1-4 ones
