I wouldnt spend more then £30-40 on a second hand k&n. Would rather buy a brand new one for £80.

Well they don't usually come with the metal tube, i think he's just stuck a K&N sticker on it. I bought both of mine for around £25 and one had never been used. I have an early mk1 so i just bolted it straight to the inlet so never needed the hosing. I think it is a little overpriced as it is so would wait for another one to pop up.

It's already over priced. Fools

Brand new from Motorsport World they are £46.00 for a 1a (no adaptor pipe as it's not needed, could easily be made to fit a 1b) or £68 for a 1b with adaptor pipe (so the additional sensors can be plugged in)

tbh ive been looking at the new one model number 57-0120, looking at the fitting instructions it looks pretty easy to attach it to the throttle body i could do it myself, and i possibly wont even break anything!

this one is 66.98 with 7.50 p&p.

http://www.filterpower.co.uk/kn_inducti ... .htm#order

think ill wait till my zaust is done and save a little bit more for a new one.

When I bought my 57i from new, it came with a 3" dia. flexi-pipe to feed cold air from underneath the car up to and at the filter, without which there's a noticeable loss of power when the engine gets hot.

I've run my track car without the hose for a while now... I've not noticed any difference whatsoever...

DING, there is plenty of airflow from underneath through the engine bay, those hose kits don't make that much difference IMO. I wouldn't bother with it.

Im moving back home to derbyshire on wednesday so my K&N should of arrived by then! ill let you know how i get on, im much more confident working on my car now after all the little jobs 'n' mods ive done...

on the subject of attaching the flexi pipe to the underside of the car to draw cold air in....whats the census then? use it or not? would i have to jack the rear up and find somewhere suitable, but where is best?
