[Mk2] [Turbo] My lowest Insurance yet!

Post by Scott Barton »

Might be because i am now 33  but my renewal came in at £554. Did a bit of ringing round and Sky Insurance beat it, bringing it in at £490 including free legal cover. :thumleft:

Fully comp, protected full no claims, £300 excess. \:D/

I got a quote on a std rev3 tubby full comp for something around £350 full comp with tesco...

Im 25, 5 y/ncb £150 excess.

But i had my dad on there as a additional driver. It was around £600 before i added him.

i really dont see why it makes such a difference! is there a catch? if not, then why doesn't everyone have a named driver on there insurance?

My sister pays £890 tpft on a corsa , if she adds me as an additional driver, then her policy drops to £580 odd quid!

Can anyone shed some light on this ??

That would certainly be the case if I let my old man drive my tubby

Maybe Ollie can shed some light on this. :-k

can't help but feel insurance is kinda stupid on these mr2's, been looking around getting a few quotes this week and randomly the cheapest i've got is £264 fully comp with churchill but all the so called jap specialists are wanting well over £500! i actually had one come through yesterday for £1100! i only pay £240 on my sapphire cossie thats running 327bhp at the back wheels and is agreed value of £6500 so i just don't see how they can justify the stupid quotes. not like i'm some kid with fresh ink on a license, i'm 27 in spetember, no points, no claims, 6yrs ncb, class 2 hgv license so i know how to drive and i'm a home owner so surely should make me a low risk for them?! i think they just see 2 seater sports car and think of a number then double it!

I know this is for a different car, but it's essentially the same engine. In my 3rd & final year of ownership, I was paying £280 fully comp, with all mods declared on a like for like basis with an agreed value of £6000 for my imported 1994 L reg GT4.

She had stage 1 mods (Filter, de cat & full exhaust system, D/V, 18 Advan alloys, TRD lowering kit. Looked real nice if I do say so myself 8)

Im paying £220 TPF&T for my standard UK N/A rev 3.

How these insurance companies work out their premiums I'll never know :-s

Search me, insurance companies operate in weird and wonderful ways!

There is no logic to it.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.
