Ok Guys thats me just back from the great Leman trip 2008.

The cars done 2500 miles over the last 2 weeks and went like a trooper.

I am now back on to this trip and making sure we have everything arranged.

If everyone is ok with this i will arrange for us to book in for evening meals in Portree at Skye. It can get quite busy so i suggest when a party of about 30 we do this.

I have 2 places in mind. Reasonable cost and nice meals. I will get the names up of the places once i speak to them to check available

If anyone does not want to eat with the group then let me know.

Sunday night will be back at the Snow Goose Country pub across from the travel lodge so no booking required for their.

I will make sure that we have some spots along the route that we can stop for snacks as last year and the pee stops.

Only 12 weeks to go on this one.

See you all soon

Max

I am sure you will be ready in time, it is 3 months away yet and if not just take Sasha's one.

Pete

Your wish is my command. Here are a few pics of the roadster. Don't worry you will see it in the flesh for the Skye run.

I have not been up that way for a while myself but will make a wee weekend their before the trip just to make sure everything is arranged.

Presume we will just meet you in Avimore again this year from your early morning run up

MARK

Nice to hear from you matey. Looking forward to a catch up with you shortly. Was going to drop you a text. Will have another Aberdeenshire run soon so hopefully see you their. If not def on this one.

Are you 2 guys still camping in skye. Nice wee site at Portree. Let me know if you need any help with it but im sure you guys will have it sorted

See you soon

aye Shane I'll be doing the mad dash up to Aviemore in the am. No probs with a run in the turbo, just ask. I need to scrub in my tyres soon as I haven't done any real driving this year at all. Weather has been pants recently and the car's in getting a dent fixed (another hit and run ](*,) )

I hope so... to be honest, it's gotta be done by mid-July so I'm probably gonna take some time off Uni to sort it soon...
Unfortunately taking Sasha's one isn't an option... :(

And Pete, don't tempt me - I've already been giving serious thought to doing such a thing... ;)

Max no problem mate you can jump in the roadster for a spell no problem :thumleft:

Might be a good idea to get the Mk1 of yours back on the road again then. Your missing the nice summer weather. Well if it arrives that is. You must be missing the car as well.

What has happened to Sashas Mk1 or should i not ask.

Tell me about it. We've had a few sunny days down here and it's been depressing to say the least. Then again, I'm cycling each day so still prefering it to the normal weather, but I miss the Mk1 soooo much...
(actually I miss driving soooo much, but that's a whole other story for another day.)

Thankfully nothing - but she's had some issues with bushes etc, and it's made her realise how expensive things can be if you do too many miles with the car without giving back to it in return. She now uses it as a daily driver so has said she doesn't want to put the miles for the Scotland trip on it too - basically ruling it straight out as an option... Which is for the best really as it gives me even more incentive to sort mine!

Right here is a copy of the routes i have planned for the three days.

The driving times for Friday & Sunday are about 4-5 hours but thats does not count stops for photos, snacks and pee breaks

The Saturday is around 3 hours but it will generally take a bit longer in skye as we will have a few stops. This will also give those who want a little time in Portree to do some light tourist shopping time.

I will be adding on a small option to take an additional road on the Island over to Elgol on the west side of the Island. This is breathtaking to be frank and one of the best roads on the Island. It is one road in however and one road back and adds on about an extra 50 miles to the day. As i say this is an option for those who want to do it.

Jinxy i trust you have been on this raod mate. takes you past Skye marble Quarry, A place that makes swords and Sheilds etc and a tannery.

There is so much to see in skye that you will be amazed all day on Saturday thats for sure.

Fuel on this trip will be no problem. We will fill in Huntly, Inverness and at Portree in Skye and then again in Inverness so there is no issue for those with the gas guzzlers.

I have a couple of nice snack stops for lunch sussed out being Invermoriston on the Friday at the top of Loch ness and probably Dunvegan Castle in Skye. Sunday i am not sure yet but will have a place in mind by September.

Anyway here is the maps

PS thanks to Allan Welsh who very kindly made thes up in Google for me

I will provide everybody with a map of the route however as i did last year.

Shane,
One of my best friends returned from Skye yesterday (after a climbing weekend up there - lucky girl). She said there are lots of roadworks on the A87 at the moment slowing down traffic... Any idea if these'll be gone by the time we get there? (I know it's a few months, but I also know how quick English roadworkers are so wondering if the Scottish ones are as lethargic...? )
