Good news - stiff throttle pedal eliminated by changing cable today. Double-declutching on the downshifts back on the menu. :D

Bad news - i need a new Odyssey battery. £200. Ouch!

Errrr, normally tucked up in bed.

It's bad enough in standing water. 4-5mm P Zero Corsas are not conducive to grip in anything but hot and dry conditions. Aquaplanes at 50mph on wet motorway!

I'll be emailing the mountain hotel later this week. Might have to make some new less ambitious routes in case...

We could just stay in Spain and watch the race in a bar. Swap the tents for swimming shorts

Nope, gearbox is perfect. Cost £2.5K to have it uprated by Competition Transmission Services.

Battery ordered.

Now to finish last few jobs at the front. First was to wire up the new horn. The Stebal pulls 18A, against 6A for the original, so whilst the loom was apart i ran a new wire from the horn relay in the car. Wrapped, terminated and horn works:

Image

Then mark up the new side panels for drilling holes for mounting bolts for the fan assembly. Bolt into place. Test all electrics. Run engine up to temp to confirm fans switch on. Check all coolant and oil cooler unions.

Job done!

Last job at front is to fit and adjust clam, and wire up lights.

Rear jacked up. Diffuser removed. Engine undertray removed. Old battery removed. Well reason for failure was excessive heat from downpipe. I guess a warranty claim is out of the question.

Image

New battery arrived. The Odyssey PC1200 is smaller than an MR2 battery, but can put out 600A for cranking! Has a good reserve capacity too for charging phone etc at campsite without running engine.

Image

Battery fitted. Sump filled with fresh Silkolene 10W-50 Pro-S, and filter changed. Front lambda sensor was flat-lining, so nice shiny new Ford sensor fitted. Underpanels refitted.

So all that's left is front clam, wash, polish, apply stickers and MOT.

Looked awesome yesterday dude. Glad she's nearly ready to go now.

Hopefully it'll sail through the MOT.

A few months late, mainly due to the workshop move, but i've finally started to remove the engine from the car.

Intercooler and pipework removed:

Rear turbo, lava jacket, oil and water lines looking perfect since being fitted 6000 miles ago:

Rear clam removed. Tail pipes and rear turbo pipe removed. Next job is up on stands, and remove diffuser and undertrays:

I love this car. It's a reet beast! Good luck with the overhaul lad. Hope you get those Burns silencers on for Lemans.

I need someone to take the blame for the noise rather than me with my de-catted bungless Nur Spec R through those quiet streets in Spain!

Have you been looking at my new engine and thinking "I wish mine looked like that!"
