Yes but what's the problem with that? Who cares if neither of them even likes Mk1s?

They're providing a source for parts that we would otherwise struggle to get, it's hard work lying under rusty MR2s in all weathers taking obscure bits off for £20 or £30, would you all prefer the same cars just got crushed?

I don't see a problem other than people moaning about the price of parts they don't have to buy.

Without Jones or Sims the same cars would be weighed in for scrap.

Have to say Paul I agree.

A dirty job but someone's got to do it etc.

They do need to be careful about storage of a lot of cars in a field unbunded however, EA only need a tip off for it to give them a lot of grief.

Mr2s

Post by paulsims2001 »

Hi Guys have read the threads and I can see both sides of the storie.
I guess I will get bombarded with hate mail etc but I am thick skinned so here goes.
Over the years I have had many people phone me up to ask if I was interested in buying their Mr2 otherwise the scrapman would take it and crush it!! so I have bought them.
What you have to consider is that you have to initially buy the car (and as you know scrappers are going up in price) get them delivered or collect ( I can pay up to £200 to have them delivered etc ) strip them winter times included BRRR ,time is money ,store them ,pack them ,then go to the post office and queue up behind the pensioners !! Pay insurance ,tax etc etc
Taking all this in as a rough guess I would say it costs you around £750 plus to strip one and then you may well be able to sell some parts straight away but at a guess 10% if not less. Then you are left with lots of parts which may sell eventually but like myself I have 1000s of parts on the shelf which may not even sell at all
Its not easy work and certainly not enjoyable but some one has to do it.
In between all this I also have to fit in other work and when I can a social life !!
To answer another question I did post about having four cars for sale but I actually have five all needing a little work bar one and I cant bear to strip them (even tho I could get more for them if I did ).
The post was removed as I am classed as a trader .
I shall post reqularly when I can and obviosuly see what comments come my way
Thanks for listening

I think it'll be good if you do become an active part of the community Paul

Anyone who has a moan can say so & you can reply

Should be a happier situation for all I think :thumleft:
